Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Hughes.
Hi Chelsey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was a student at Blinn in College Station and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. My mom owns Posh Salon and I came home from school for the summer and was doing wedding makeup. I felt drawn to the industry and my mom suggested esthetic school. I found Ann Webb Skin Institute through a friend and it was the only school offering lash training at the time (2013). I honestly did not enjoy lashing at first but another student encouraged me to keep at it and 2 studios and 12 years later here we are!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a wonderful journey. I’ve meet some amazing ladies and have learned so much. We had a hard year opening the second location but lots of prayers and we are rocking and rolling.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The company specializes in Eyelash Extensions and permanent makeup. Our motto is to “Be The Most Beautiful You” and we truly feel every woman should look and feel stunning both inside and out. What you would consider such small things (eyelash extensions, microblading) can truly change someone’s whole life. I’m so thankful I’m able to provide these for women. Not only me, but a whole team I’ve curated.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
The biggest risk I’ve taken recently is opening our 2nd location. The economy isn’t ideal and I wasn’t exactly looking for a new studio but the space where I started lashing almost 12 years ago opened up and I felt pulled to expand. I live by “do it and everything will work out”.
