Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Marrazzo.
Hi Chloe, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started interested in photography during high school, so I joined the photography club. I chose AP photography for an elective, and this opportunity allowed me to compete with other schools in the same category. I could glimpse the creative world beyond what I saw in my local town and school. My teacher, Mr. Yenzen, taught me so much and allowed exploration. I saw things differently after his class. Everything was a little more exciting. Before graduation, I was seriously thinking about my future and what I wanted to do with the life I had. Going into a creative field would give me fulfillment. However, after considering the world of social media and the evolution of the camera phone, It was like anyone with a phone could take good pictures. This led me to the art institute of Austin, where I learned about the web and graphic design. I struggled a lot with Adobe and did terribly with coding, but It felt good once I finished a project. I learned so much in those two years of college. Even though I didn’t end up where I had planned, I’m happy with the path my choices have led me onto. Since college, I’ve been working in hotels and hospitality. The experience from these exclusive employment opportunities allowed me to thrive in my part-time job (although it feels like full-time because it’s my life, and I love it), painting parties, and event management. I show up to an event with the supplies for all the artists who will be painting with me and guide the group through creating a piece of art! The events range from 10 people to 80, but I’ve been lucky enough to have lots of support, and I plan to rely only on my painting events and workshops for a sustainable lifestyle.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been challenging. Everything that you want requires work. The days when I felt like I had lost every creative bone in my body were always the hardest. It’s like losing your identity in an instant or questioning yourself because there will always be something or someone who can do what you do better. But giving yourself a break and taking a beat to step back and have gratitude for what is in front of you brings things back into perspective. Anxiety and public speaking have held me back from my full potential, and I’m still working to overcome these obstacles daily.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love color! I love pouring paints and using texture in my pieces. It also helps boost my confidence and get the creativity flowing when deciding what subject or style I feel that day.
