Today we’d like to introduce you to Denis O’Donnell.
Denis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was a working musician here in Austin since 1998. Spent years playing and working at the Hole in the Wall. Opened the White Horse in 2011. Then opened the Hard Luck Lounge, which has since closed. Opened the Sagebrush during the pandemic in 2022.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our Sagebrush was hard. we attained the lease when the former tenants were closed down due to criminal activity. The property had a moratorium in which we couldn’t even apply for our liquor license until FEB of 2020. That was right around when everything crashed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I book the bands here at the Sagebrush. I have booked bands for a long time now here in Austin. My favorite part of this business is watching our folks grow. It’s wonderful.
