Daily Inspiration: Meet Dylan Trimble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dylan Trimble.

Hi Dylan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into entrepreneurship started late 2019. I was working as an account executive for a software company in Austin, and it seemed no matter what I did, I was desperately unhappy. The decision to start a custom furniture business came slowly.

It started with small pieces of wall art and progressed into building charcuterie boards. My curiosity drove me to scour YouTube for any and all videos of epoxy resin furniture, along with other methods of constructing high-end furniture. The first year was extremely taxing, navigating the ins & outs of running a business at the age of 23 pushed in ways I can’t describe, luckily I was living with my father at the time and had low overhead… because I was barely making enough money to survive. Just as I started to make headway covid hit, and just as covid hit, I had surgery on my shoulder. Those circumstances pulled me into a dark hole, I couldn’t exercise, build furniture, ride mountain bikes, or do any of the things that keep me whole. I started to drink my sorrows away, this lasted the entirety of my shoulder surgery recovery process and continued a couple of months after. I checked myself into a treatment facility to acquire the tools necessary to find contentment again. Today I’m sober, flourishing, and kicking butt with the business. My current wait time for new clients is ten weeks, and The business will gross nearly 10K this month. For anyone considering a journey into entrepreneurship, I would tell them to persevere through any and all adversity and don’t let thoughts of self-doubt control your passion.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
1. Financial security
2. Addiction
3. Self-doubt
4. Learning carpentry from scratch
5. Finding clients
6. Managing social media
7. Realistic expectations
8. Time management.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create completely custom pieces of high-end furniture and use a multitude of mediums to execute the vision. They range from Collage, epoxy resin, exotic hardwood, concrete, and paint. I consider my process completely original, and I’ve yet to see anyone construct something with my specific taste…
