Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been into photography since high school — a long time ago (I graduated in ’95!). What started as a hobby turned into a lifelong love for capturing people and emotion and creating. Fourteen years ago, I officially started Simone Rae Photography, and it’s been growing and evolving ever since.
Over time, I built up from shooting family portraits and headshots to offering more creative, styled sessions that let me blend emotion, beauty, and imagination. I love creating images that make people feel something — whether it’s beauty, mystery, or a little bit of magic. Photography has always been a way of connecting with people and expressing creativity at the same time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course it hasn’t been super smooth but like anything worth doing, there’ve been ups and downs along the way. It’s all just part of it. Every experience ends up teaching you something or helping you grow, so I try to just roll with it and keep going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a portrait photographer, family, headshots, HS Seniors, etc but I specialize in creative or beauty-inspired sessions with an occasional dark twist. I love creating images that feel artistic, emotional, and a little unexpected — whether that’s something soft and elegant or bold and moody. I love adding flowers to many of my sessions.
I think what sets me apart may just be the way I do things. I don’t always know the story behind an image, I just know it feels like something. I’m drawn to opposites, the soft and strong, pretty and strange, and I like finding beauty in those contrasts.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is to book a portrait session. Connect with my through my website or social media. I offer everything from creative beauty sessions to family, headshots, High School, events and individual portraits. I also love collaborating with other artists, makeup artists, and stylists on themed or concept shoots.
