Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Taylor
Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Due to nerve damage causing me to lose the ability to walk on my right foot, I had my first foot surgery in 2015 that was botched with a nail almost going through my foot. After battling doctors saying I was lying about my foot still in pain, I found a doctor who performed my second foot surgery to repair and reconstruct almost 2 years later. I was told I wouldn’t be able to walk properly let alone walk in heels go on. After praying and doing rehab on my foot, my best friend convinced me to try modeling which I always wanted to do but was too scared due to self esteem and my surgeries. My best friend wouldn’t let me say no so I began my journey in San Antonio modeling with Meshaun Model agency, then to Luxe Loft Model agency and now I am a freelance model who has walked in NYFW, LAFW, Preview Models, and many Texas fashion shows as well as competed in model competitions in New York and Texas petite pageant.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not smooth but still rewarding. Some struggles came from personal and business relationships getting mixed up with agencies. Some struggles simply came from not being casted because I am plus-size or too short or my foot was acting up that day or my tremors portrayed me as nervous and anxious. Some castings don’t like tattoos and of course I’m a tattoo model. It’s all a learning process in the end.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Besides being a professional model, I am a full time dog groomer or pet stylist if you’re fancy. I specialize in poodles and doodles! I’m known for my colorful hair styles, my comedic IG/ TikTok reels, and for my love of animals. I’m most proud of myself for never giving up and always trusting in Gods will. What sets me apart from others is that I am super adaptable and will to risk it all for a positive result whether it be taking my time on an aggressive dog to finish the haircut to jumping in place for a designer who needs a last minute model or doing what I need to get the perfect shot.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s anything I want people to take away from my story is don’t ever give up on your dreams and goals until God calls you home.
