Today we’d like to introduce you to Lala Klosterman.
Hi Lala, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child I always had the longest hair, and my mom would trim my hair at times. I remember the very first time I stepped into a Hair Salon, at the age of 10 and had my first professional haircut! I was infatuated! By the Stylist working behind the chair, the loud pop music, the scents of hair chemicals and the busyness of a hair salon, It gave such vibrant energy, I love it! I decided I wanted to be a Hairstylist when I grow up. So in High School I enrolled Central Texas Beauty College.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
After many trainings and assisting, building the trust and confidence in clients was a struggle as a young Cosmetologist at 19. No one wanted to give me a chance and sit in my chair. Men’s cuts came easy and built quickly.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in Brunette Color, Balayage, Men and Women haircuts of all hair types.
I’m proud I’ve built a business! Overcame the small struggles, and now work for myself.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is key in business. You need to associate with others similar in your industry, it will benefit your business. Word of mouth for referrals is always the best. It provides relationships and trust.
