Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Hopkins.
Hi Lori, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Started working as cake decorator in bakery while attending college in San Marcos. My manager that trained me was a pastry chef that migrated from France. Best teacher I could have had. I ended up managing 5 different retail bakery locations around the Austin area from 2000 to 2007. Then finished up an accounting degree while continuing to bake wedding cakes and becoming a preferred vendor at many venues around town. Started my own business first in San Antonio in 2010 and moved back to Austin in 2011 and have been working around the Austin area ever since. Have had my own business for 15 years now. Have averaged as many as 150 weddings per year. That is my max work load being a sole proprietor. I have now started to hold cake classes here in home where I bake from to widen my customer base. I do attend bridal shows and run booths at vendor open houses and have been in magazines including Austin Wedding Day and Bliss Bridal.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Very smooth and grateful for all of the customer support and good reviews
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
