Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Warren
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always loved taking photos since I was young. Growing up, I asked for a camera for my birthdays, and I can’t count the number of disposables I used to use. I started getting really into film photography around 2018 when I was gifted with my first camera, a Nikon FG. I fell in love with film photography from then on. I love taking photos of simple, everyday life as well as beautiful and interesting places while I’m traveling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, there have been a few blank rolls of film, or way over exposed/underexposed shots. I am my worst critic, and I am always learning from my mistakes. I still struggle every now and then to execute the exact shot I have planned in my head. Learning and growing is what’s fun for me. I wouldn’t enjoy it if everything always went perfectly.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an amateur film photographer. I love creating intrigue into everyday life as well as photographing beautiful and unique parts of the world. I am proud when a photo I take comes out even better than what I had planned. I don’t know what sets me apart from others besides the fact that we all see the world differently. I, like everyone else, have a totally different eye and that’s what makes us unique as photographers.
What were you like growing up?
I was so shy growing up. I have always been an introvert and very introspective. I didn’t fully come out of my shell until I had my first job where I was forced to speak to people that I didn’t know. I was really interested in photography, writing, poetry, music, and playing tennis. I had two brothers, a very supportive a loving mom and a small group of friends and I was content with that.
