Today we’d like to introduce you to Myia Salabarria.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from New Orleans, LA and relocated to the Austin area with my family when Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005. My mother raised me to be a fashionista. She showed me how to enhance my beauty that already exists and love anything from clothes to makeup. As I got older, I started to find a deeper love for makeup and lashes. In 2021, my sister encouraged me to become creative with something that I love. I thought and prayed, and the idea to offer a variety of lashes for every woman. After preparing and doing everything needed, May 15, 2021, XTended by Myia B was launched.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe that when you are doing something you love to do, it is never an easy road. One challenge with being in a saturated market is building consistent consumers, but continuing to advertise and finding unique ways to market your products help with building that clientele.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a creative at heart and everyone knows that about me, so being a creative and loving makeup, I am able to help other women find the beauty within themselves first, then help advance that part of them. I sometimes give free classes on how to apply lashes, give information on what lashes work best for their eyes, how to properly remove lashes and care for them.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One important thing that I’ve learned along my journey is patience. I am a person that wants to see results right away, but I’ve learned that everything takes time and having patience and enjoying the process is so important in any journey.
