Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar and Marla Santiago.
Hi Oscar and Marla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2018 Oscar built a toy box for our son who at the time was 4 years old. After successfully completing this project our family began to put in multiple requests for other DIY projects such as entry, coffee and dinning tables. The word between friends spread and soon after we had our one car garage filled with orders and machinery.
We continued to invest in this new hobby until we realized we were spending more time on our hobby than our regular full time careers.
From 2018-2022 we worked out of our three car garage, during COVID we grew from a Husband and Wife team to also having Oscar Sr. (Oscars dad) join us. in just about 2 years time we have also welcome Margarita (Margie) Oscars mother, our brother in law Pablo and other exceptional team members as well.
In 2022 we took a leap and leased a 2,500 sq ft whare house where we have extended into 3,750 sq ft in the last year. We are grateful to steadily continue to grow.
In the last 3 years we have specialized more in costume cabinets.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A constant struggle has been competing in a market that the minimum has been just enough for so long. We provide a superior turnkey product, acquiring loyal and returning costumers.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Wooden Woodworks we strive to provide a turnkey product. We are careful to follow our clients requests and provide guidance in the design process. Un like many custom cabinet companies in our area we provide a wide variety of services to streamline a well coordinated color scheme throughout the home or office. i.e. we can handcraft barndoors, mudroom bench, mirror frames, dog kennels, featured wall designs, floating shelves, bookshelf and many other items.
What are your plans for the future?
We are always looking for ways to improve our craft and bring on experienced carpenters to further grow the business and continue to grow.
But at this time there are not any specific plans or changes we can disclose.
