Daily Inspiration: Meet Robin Huneycutt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Huneycutt.

Hi Robin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I found Pilates post a volleyball injury in hopes I could rehab myself back from a calf tear. Within 3 months I was able to run the Austin Half Marathon without any distance training. After that, I was a true believer in the benefits of strength training through the method of “tension under time,” balance, alignment, breath, and rhythm.

Soon after, I underwent multiple trainings to further my educational understanding of proper movement and to improve my capabilities in teaching those concepts to others in an easy yet fun way to understand.

In 2019 I broke away from teaching at large group studios in Austin to launch my own home studio. The Pandemic served my one-on-one business model and allowed me to build real relationships with my clients. Once the restrictions lifted I was able to expand my private client sessions to include a total of 4 allowing me to focus on my clients movement patterns and apply techniques that would otherwise be too challenging in a large group class setting.

At the end of 2024 I felt comfortable in expanding my small group class offerings to include a variety of Pilates Apparatuses, weight training, and specialty services such as Pre/Post Natal, Postpartum, Diastases Recti Recovery, Foot injury and deformity corrective techniques, hip and back care.

Now I’m in the process of hiring additional trainers to help me with group classes so I can focus on developing training courses.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At first, things grew naturally. I had a following already established. My technical proficiency, passion for education, and natural love for interacting with my clients allowed my business to flourish naturally. My passion mirrored my work and I think clients felt the authenticity.

I would say 2025 has been my most difficult year due to the saturation of Pilates studios within Austin. I don’t have the large marketing budgets nor the team to support the work required to push that much effort into promotion.

Also, I’m noticing a shift in the mentality of clients and what they are looking for. We are all incredibly stressed and still feeling the emotional effects post covid. This sparked a pivot in my approach to how I am going to run my studio that coincides with my natural urge to offer something different. I am excited to launch these ideas come 2026!

Although running a business requires me to work hard, I am also playing hard. I love my job! I find an incredible amount of joy in helping people rediscover their body from a curious, non judgmental approach.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most known for my fun, yet technical approach to learning how to move your body. I specialize in women’s prenatal/postnatal, postpartum and Diastases Recti Repair and Recovery. I am a level 1 foot-care specialist that helps clients rebuild their foot posture and recover from ankle injuries. Through my educational courses I truly believe the foot posture of a client can set the stage for knee, hip, back and neck pain, so it’s a slight correct the bottom to the top method that has proven to be quite successful. I am also in the process of obtaining more advanced certifications in Neurokinetic Therapy and will probably combine this with going to massage school so I can approach my clients more as a practitioner.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was an artsy athlete. I naturally excelled in sports and was able to take my competitive spirit into Collegiate Volleyball. Currently I play sand volleyball and am going to work to see how far I can go in the professional sphere.

I am a true Austinite and have a very tight knit family and friend group that are located nearby. I spend a lot of time with them.

My father was in the Navy. Through our travels as a child I developed a love for different cultures, food, and experiences outside the norm. I enjoy everything from going to the rodeo, hiking, camping to attending cooking classes, painting, and gardening.

I graduated from The University of Texas with a BA in Natural Sciences under fashion design. I started my career in fashion creating wedding and cocktail gowns. Then dipped my toe into wardrobe styling, which I still freelance. Having a love for people, the arts and sciences my friends and I created a local magazine online that blended the art of fashion, food, and community.

Funny enough, through the magazine is where I found Pilates. I didn’t know at the time, but that unique experience pivoted the entire trajectory of my career.
