Daily Inspiration: Meet Simon Llewelyn Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simon Llewelyn Evans

Hi Simon Llewelyn , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey as a songwriter has always been about finding a way to connect with the profound through the simple. I see songwriting as a space where I can tap into those universal human experiences—love, loss, life, death, and all the invisible processes we go through but don’t always articulate. It’s about creating time and space to sense and express those feelings.

The challenge is to take something so vast and mysterious and make it into a song that resonates without overwhelming. To do that, I focus on the small, intimate moments that carry deeper truths, like asking your partner to read the words on the TV screen when you can’t see them. Those moments ground the music in something real, while the spirit of the song moves it forward.

For me, it’s about striking a balance—making music that is moving but not overly sentimental or inaccessible. I think when you truly listen to life, you can channel something meaningful, and that’s what has shaped my journey as a songwriter.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful. Life has its milestones—moments of joy, loss, change, and even those in-between times where you’re just waiting or figuring things out. My songbook has become a kind of prayer book, a place where all of that is recorded.

Each song feels like a timepiece, tied to a specific phase of life. Some share the same DNA, written during a particular chapter, while others feel like an epiphany that came out of nowhere. The struggles—whether they’re personal, creative, or just part of life—shape the songs and give them character. Just like life’s phases, the songs show themselves in different ways, but together, they tell the story of the road I’ve traveled.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a songwriter and performer, and my work is all about exploring the invisible threads that connect us—love, loss, life, death, and the moments in between. I specialize in crafting songs that feel deeply personal yet universal, finding meaning in the small, everyday details and tying them to the bigger picture of what it means to be human.

What I’m most proud of is the way my songs resonate with people on a personal level. When someone tells me a song helped them through a hard time or put words to something they couldn’t express, that’s the ultimate reward.

What sets me apart, I think, is the way I treat songwriting as both art and a form of prayer—a way of marking time and capturing life’s milestones and mysteries. My songs often feel like timepieces, each carrying the DNA of the moment it was created, yet still finding ways to speak to people across different phases of their own lives. It’s that mix of intimacy and connection that defines my work.
