Daily Inspiration: Meet Sondra Sullivan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sondra Sullivan

Hi Sondra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Sondra Sullivan. I was born in Los Angeles, California, but I grew up in rural western Colorado. Straight out of high school, I headed to the Aveda Institute in Denver to pursue a career in cosmetology—and, let’s be honest, talking! I’ve always loved connecting with people and chatting about anything and everything. Honestly, there’s nothing I can’t be fascinated by for at least three hours.

My career has taken me to some incredible places, introduced me to amazing people, and opened doors to opportunities I never imagined. I’m a published hair and makeup artist, with work featured in national campaigns, major publications, and even music videos.

In 2019, I moved to Austin, TX, but not long after, I had the chance to relocate to LA with my boyfriend (now husband) in early 2020. Moving back to California right as COVID hit was challenging—especially in the beauty industry—but when Mindy invited me to be a guest on her podcast, I was beyond excited. It felt so natural, and secretly, I hoped she’d invite me back. Fast forward four years…and here we are!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When it comes to my career, I’ve always felt incredibly blessed. Aside from the curveballs COVID threw at all of us, my journey has been nothing short of fruitful. I’ve built lifelong friendships—not just with coworkers but with my clients as well, who’ve become an important part of my life.

In 2021, I decided to pursue a BA in Forensic Psychology, and I’m proud to say I graduated Summa Cum Laude last year. That’s an achievement I hold close to my heart! I love that my career has been flexible enough to allow me to explore passions outside of my “day job.” I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior, which is a huge part of what we dive into on the podcast. We get to share personal experiences, connect with our live audience, and hear their stories too—which makes it even more meaningful.

Gaining traction in a world with ten million other podcasts has been harder than anything I’ve ever done. But hearing positive feedback from our listeners is the fuel that keeps us going. Mindy and I have so much fun with the show, which honestly takes the pressure off. It’s something we genuinely love doing, and I think that authenticity really shines through. Our listeners can feel it—and that’s what makes it all worthwhile.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional hairstylist specializing in extensions and color matching. While living in LA, I had the incredible fortune of meeting and working with Lena Reitz, who has been an inspiration, mentor, and friend. When it comes to extensions, she’s the best in the game, and I’m so grateful for the knowledge and skills she shared with me.

The Pajama Parties Podcast is the brainchild of Mindy, and I’ve been lucky enough to tag along for the ride! Every Wednesday at 10 PM CST, we meet up, pour a few cocktails, and yap for an hour about whatever random topic we’ve picked for the week. Each episode has a new theme, a different drink, and yes—a fresh pajama vibe to match. We keep it light and fun, steering clear of anything too polarizing because we want it to feel like a safe, open space for everyone.

We talk about love, sex, relationships, ghost stories, conspiracies, true crime—basically anything you’d dish about with your best friends. Hence the name Pajama Parties. It’s our way of slowing down, staying connected, and just having a good time while interacting with our listeners live. Life moves fast, so it’s nice to pause, unwind, and share a laugh (or five) every week!

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If you’d like to work with me, collaborate, or support what I do, there are a couple of ways!

For all things hair, I specialize in extensions and color matching, so if you’re looking to book an appointment, collaborate on a project, or need a stylist for events, campaigns, or creative shoots, I’d love to connect. I’m always open to new opportunities where I can bring my skills and passion for hair to the table. My hair IG is @xoxosondra
