Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Ashby.
Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I knew I’ve wanted to model throughout my life, but I felt I lacked the resources and knowledge to actually pursue it seriously. Three years ago, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted out of life. I knew I loved putting outfits together and expressing myself through pictures. Unknowingly taking my first steps towards my modeling aspirations, I started curating looks and doing photo shoots for local brands. Since that time, I’ve gained invaluable experience and relationships, pushing me to take modeling more serious. This year, I have been selected to attend “Fresh Face”, a program that educates upon those entering the fashion industry, and its networking aspect. I believe instagram is a look into who I am, an avenue where I’m able to freely express myself. Social media in general is personally a fun tool that allows for more than just content creation. The ability to meet, MUA’s, photographers, videographers, and designers, all through social media is amazing. I’ve made genuine relationships and friends through this process and appreciate the opportunities I’ve gained through this resource.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been easy. I’m proud to say my personal struggles don’t define me but pushed me to the best version of myself I am today. I always love standing out, looking different, and realize I may get judged for doing things many people don’t do. Some people have judged without knowing my character, and it can be frustrating. I’ve been treated a certain way, but I refuse to let that negatively affect my modeling career.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently a freelance model, hoping to be signed with an agency in the future. I would love to do commercial, print, and runway modeling. I have done photo shoots and runway always looking to expand my experience. I am known for my pink eyebrows, I always love to freely express myself, and not care about people’s opinions about me. I always love setting myself apart from others, by being unique and stepping out of the box. I am hoping to be modeling with my dream brands in the future, HMN ALNS, Diesel, Namilia, Naked Wolfe, and Mugler. I always admire the designs that some of these brands/designers create.
