Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Halls and Natasha Wilson.
Hi Vanessa and Natasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are Vanessa Halls and Natasha Wilson, a food blogger team comprised of two food-loving friends who met at the University of Texas at San Antonio while attaining our Marketing degrees (beep beep!). Our passion for highlighting local restaurants and trying new foods/drinks led us to starting our very own Instagram-based blog in August of 2017. Our mission is to highlight our favorite restaurants and local businesses in the ATX area through our social media channels effectively creating traction not only to their own social media accounts but also to their establishments. We truly love finding delicious gems and hope our followers enjoy discovering them with us!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As fun as it’s been to build and connect with our audience, it has also been one of our biggest struggles. In addition to not knowing the best approach to reaching out to local businesses for collaborations, we also weren’t confident that we could build up an audience that truly cared about the content we were putting out. However, after having our blog for over three years now we are happy to say that after we have finally gotten into more of a rhythm that is cohesive!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are most known for being a dynamic friend duo, which we feel sets us apart from a lot of other food pages. Since there are two of us, we’re able to tag-team a lot of the blog work to get more done!
Also, we are very proud of how far our photography and social media skills have come, especially when comparing some of our first photos to the ones we take today! From taking social media courses, photography classes and attending countless networking events, we are so appreciative of all of the relationships we have created with fellow creatives, restaurant managers, owners and chefs around town. We just LOVE supporting local businesses!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We feel very lucky to live in a city where a diverse food scene plays such a huge part in our city as a whole. We are truly passionate about creating a food blog that is relatable to everyone and we feel that the time and effort we’ve put into our blog has been vital to our success.
