Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Galvan.
Hi Veronica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I actually started my career in healthcare as an X-ray tech. I loved working with patients, but once I became a mom, I realized I needed a path that offered more flexibility. I had already started taking my real estate classes before my youngest daughter was born (she’s 3 now) and I also have an 8-year-old daughter, so juggling long shifts wasn’t sustainable anymore.
When my youngest was diagnosed with a medical condition that required frequent interventions, it shifted everything for me. I needed to be able to take her to appointments, be available for emergencies, and still build a stable future for my family. Real estate became the space where all of that was possible.
In the beginning, I didn’t have a big network or any special connections. What I did have was determination, empathy, and the experience from healthcare of guiding people through stressful moments. I naturally gravitated toward first-time homebuyers because their journey felt familiar: lots of questions, lots of hope, and a need for someone patient and willing to walk them through every step in English or Spanish.
But the biggest blessing has been the flexibility and purpose this career gives me. I can be there for my daughters, especially during the tough moments, while still building something I’m proud of. Real estate started as a necessity for my family, and it turned into a passion for helping other families find a place to call home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but I think that’s what makes my journey meaningful. When I first started, I was a brand-new agent with no sphere, no connections, and two young kids — one of them a newborn with a medical condition that required constant attention. Trying to build a business while being a full-time mom and caregiver was overwhelming at times.
There were moments when I questioned if I could really make it work. I was learning contracts late at night, showing homes in between doctor’s appointments, and trying to stay positive even when deals fell through. I didn’t have the luxury of a steady paycheck, so every client mattered, every opportunity mattered, and every “no” felt personal in the beginning.
Another struggle was confidence. In real estate, you’re surrounded by people who seem to already have a huge network or years of experience. I had to push past the feeling of being “new” and remind myself that what I lacked in connections, I made up for in determination and heart. Being bilingual has been a blessing, but it also meant helping clients who needed extra guidance, which can be more time-intensive, but so worth it.
Balancing it all was the hardest part: being present for my daughters, managing my youngest’s health needs, and still showing up as the professional my clients deserved. But every challenge made me stronger and more empathetic. Those tough seasons taught me how to hustle, how to stay organized, how to advocate for my clients, and how to believe in myself even when things felt uncertain.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. Every closed home, every family I’ve helped, and every milestone in my career has come from pushing through those struggles.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a REALTOR® here in the Austin and Central Texas area, and most of my work focuses on helping first-time homebuyers. That’s really where my heart is. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by the process, to not know where to start, or to think homeownership is out of reach. I take a lot of pride in being the person who breaks things down, answers every question with patience, and walks my clients through the entire journey step by step.
A lot of my clients come from the Hispanic community, and being bilingual has allowed me to serve families who might feel more comfortable speaking in Spanish or Spanglish. I think one thing I’m known for is making real estate feel approachable. My clients always tell me, “You explain things in a way I can actually understand,” and that means everything to me. I want them to feel supported, informed, and confident.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built. Most of my business now comes from referrals, which tells me that people don’t just remember the transaction, they remember how I made them feel.
I’ve helped families who were turned down before, families who thought they needed years to prepare, and families who were starting from zero. Watching them get their keys is one of the best feelings in the world.
What sets me apart is the combination of my healthcare background and my personal journey as a mom. Working in healthcare taught me patience, compassion, and how to stay calm in stressful moments. Being a mom taught me how to advocate fiercely. And real estate brought all of that together. My clients know I’m not just here to “open doors”, I’m here to protect them, guide them, and genuinely care about their outcome.
I’m also very active on social media, which has helped me connect with people beyond the traditional real estate path. I share real tips, bilingual content, behind-the-scenes moments, and a lot of the personal side of my life as a mom. People relate with someone who’s friendly, real, and approachable.
Overall, I’m proud of the business I’ve built, proud of the families I’ve helped, and proud that I get to do work that truly matters.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
One of the things I love most about Austin and the surrounding areas is the sense of community. Even though the city has grown so much, it still feels welcoming and full of personality. There’s always something happening: local events, family-friendly activities, small businesses popping up, festivals, and so many hidden gems in every neighborhood. I love that you can go from live music to a quiet Hill Country trail to a cute coffee shop all in the same day. It’s diverse, creative, and there’s a place here for everyone.
I also love how supportive people are. Whether it’s entrepreneurs, parents, or first-time homebuyers, there’s this energy of people uplifting each other. Being a mom and running a business, I feel that support all the time.
As for what I like least… honestly, the traffic. I think anyone who lives here would agree. The growth is exciting, but sometimes the roads and infrastructure just haven’t kept up with how quickly the city is expanding. Getting across town to meet clients at certain times of the day can feel like an adventure. But even with that, the good still outweighs the bad for me.
Austin has given my family and my business so much, and I’m grateful to be part of a community that’s constantly evolving but still keeps its heart.
