Hi Victoria , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Doing hair has always been a dream of mine since a little girl. Being a mom of 6 kids, life never allowed me to pursue my dreams, until I hit rock bottom when tragedy struck my life. In 2017, I was given 4 years to figure life out and to go for the path I am now walking down today. In 2021, I made the decision to go become a cosmetologist and I graduated in about 7months, passing both written and practical my first go around. The school I graduated from hired me as an instructor and within a few months, I was working at a friends shop building clientele. May 2025, I stepped out on my own, opening my own salon in Giddings, Tx and am offering hair services, tanning services, and lash services and am proud to say I will offer nail services this summer!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been entirely smooth. In the beginning it was most definitely a financial struggle. Attempting to build clientele scared me because I didn’t want to fail. There were many days in the beginning where I questioned myself if I chose the right career because you really have to earn and work for your clients trust and satisfaction of the services you provide to them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer hair services such as color/ highlighting, tape- in extensions ,keratin/ conditioning treatments, cuts, box braids, and I hand sew wigs upon requests, however, I specialize in highlighting and keratin treatments. I am known for promoting hair growth and helping achieve thicker hair for my clients. I am most proud of my highlights and what sets me apart from others is the time I take and the bonds I build with each of my clients.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was always playing with cousins or friends hair and when they weren’t around, I loved playing with my Barbie’s hair.
