Today we’d like to introduce you to Carollin Cavil
Hi Carollin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started playing softball when I was 9 and knew I wanted to be a pitcher. I pitched through high school and all 4 years in college. I got my degree in Exercise Sports Science and decided to step away from the game and focus on other endeavors. I found my way back after a few years and first started giving lessons at open cages. I was still working my lessons as a side gig when I started renting a facility in Taylor. It was not until 2019 that I was able to go full time with lessons. I grew as a coach, my business was expanding, and we did not have to worry about the weather. During this time I was also coaching select ball and coached my own team with my husband. In 2023 we reached a goal of getting my own facility built. I am very blessed to be here and excited to see where this journey takes me!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say challenges arise as every athlete is different and responds to instruction differently. Spending time in elementary and special education helped give me the tools to meet each athlete where they are and help them grow.
The time commitment to running a business and wearing all the hats can be difficult at times. The work doesn’t stop when lessons end!
As you know, we’re big fans of The Circle Fastpitch . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a fastpitch softball pitching coach located in Taylor, Tx. I work with girls from age 8 all the way through high school and college. It is very important for me to invest in myself and my business with continuing education. I have joined other coaches and programs to help me be a better coach and mentor. What sets me apart is my ability to break down the pitching movement and explain it to my pitchers. Aside from weekly lessons I provide intensives, (3 hour sessions intended to break the pitch down), I host clinics at my facility, and I travel to local leagues to provide clinics to the players.
I value how I talk to my athletes. I know what I say will become their inner voice and how they help themselves adjust in games. I am very confident in my capabilities, I bring my best to every lesson, and I am proud to be the coach who provides patient, detailed instruction to help pitchers grow in to confident competitors. I am so blessed to coach this game every day and share the love of this sport with the younger generation.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was pretty quiet. I was involved in church, softball, and worked hard in school. I enjoyed reading and loved Harry Potter. I remember pitching almost every day with my dad in the backyard. Softball allowed me to express myself and set goals I had to work to achieve.
