Exploring Life & Business with Carolyn And Cody Luttrell of Elevate Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn And Cody Luttrell

Hi Carolyn and Cody, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Elevate Fitness started in the most grassroots way possible—our suburban garage in Leander, TX. In 2020, we were simply working out with friends, creating a supportive space to stay active and healthy during uncertain times. At the same time, Cody was launching his own Physical Therapy practice and began treating clients right out of the garage as well.

Word spread quickly. Our friends were seeing incredible results and started telling their coworkers and family members about their transformations. What started as casual workouts soon turned into a tight-knit community. We used local Facebook groups to share what we were doing, and before we knew it, we had a dedicated group of members showing up regularly.

The turning point came when a friend casually said, “Wow! You guys should start a gym!” That was the moment we realized we had something special. After months of consideration (and encouragement from our growing community), we took the leap and opened our first brick-and-mortar location.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! Like any entrepreneurial journey, there were plenty of challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles was taking the leap in the first place. Carolyn is naturally risk-averse and thrives on stability, so stepping into the unknown of gym ownership was a huge personal challenge. While she had a strong background in marketing and branding other businesses, there was still the uncertainty of building something from the ground up. But ultimately, what gave us confidence was our tenacity and our deep belief in helping people live healthier, fuller lives—that passion became the driving force behind Elevate Fitness.

Another big challenge was stepping into leadership, both within our business and the community we were building. We had to learn some tough lessons about setting boundaries, protecting our time, and not letting our goodwill be taken advantage of. As natural helpers, it was hard to balance giving to others while making sure we still had energy left for our own family and personal lives.

Despite the struggles, every challenge pushed us to grow, refine our vision, and build a business that not only helps people transform their health but also stays true to our values.

We’ve been impressed with Elevate Fitness , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Elevate Fitness, we’re not your typical gym—we focus on real people with real lives, not just the ultra-fit, shirtless Adonises you might picture in a traditional gym setting. Our mission is to create a welcoming, non-intimidating space where everyday people feel supported in their fitness journey. Through group fitness and personal training, we work hand-in-hand with our members to help them hit their goals, whether that’s losing weight, building strength, or simply feeling better in their own bodies.

What truly sets us apart is the impact we’ve seen in people’s lives. Some of our most rewarding transformations aren’t just about aesthetics—they’re about real-life health changes. We’ve helped members lose 50+ pounds and get off diabetes or high blood pressure medications. We’ve seen women restore their cycles and achieve pregnancy through proper nutrition coaching. And perhaps most importantly, we’ve witnessed people rediscover their confidence, which in turn helps them show up as better parents, spouses, and leaders in their daily lives. We deeply believe in the ripple effect that fitness and nutrition have—not just on the individual, but on their family, career, and overall happiness.

Another key factor that sets us apart is our commitment to safe and effective training. All of our workouts are overseen by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, ensuring our members train smart and avoid injury while making real progress.

At the heart of Elevate Fitness is a strong community and a passion for helping people live healthier, fuller lives. We’re not just a gym—we’re a support system, a place of transformation, and a home for anyone ready to take control of their health.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Carolyn was always the bubbly, outgoing one—curious about the world, constantly trying new things, and diving deep into creative and artistic pursuits. She had a strong interest in psychology and loved understanding people, which probably explains her passion for coaching and helping others today.

Cody, on the other hand, was (and still is!) the more reserved and quiet type. He grew up playing sports and really excelled at baseball, developing the discipline and work ethic that would later carry over into his career in fitness and physical therapy.

Together, our different personalities balance each other out perfectly—one bringing the energy and creativity, the other bringing the focus and precision. And at the core, we’ve both always shared a passion for health, movement, and helping others become the best version of themselves. Fun fact… We actually met at a gym! Their love of fitness has been a central theme in their marriage and family life.
