Exploring Life & Business with Cassie Mason of CBM Fitness, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Mason.

Hi Cassie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After graduating from UT and learning under the best mentors in college athletics, I embarked on a journey that would not only transform my life but also the lives of countless others. Fresh out of college and armed with a passion for fitness and health, I quickly learned that optimal health, performance, and well-being extended far beyond the confines of the gym. My initial experiences working with athletes in a training center left me craving for more meaningful connections with my clients. I decided to start my own fitness + health coaching business.

Venturing out on my own was a pivotal moment in my early career. I knew I needed to build strong, lasting relationships with my clients to have an impact on their health. I also knew I needed a strong education with good interpersonal skills to be an effective coach. I got started by offering group workouts at local parks. I had to set myself apart by providing my clients with more than just a workout. I gave them a weekly plan for their off days and valuable insights into nutrition, sleep, and overall lifestyle. My clients felt like they were receiving more than just a workout; they felt cared for and supported. I put in hundreds of hours in these outdoor group settings – facing the Texas weather, rain or shine. I was lugging my weights and equipment wagon around out of the back of my car. I eventually started training clients 1on1 by traveling to their homes.

In 2021, after serving clients for nearly a decade, I had built a loyal tribe of clients by referrals — this tribe included some of Austin’s most elite business owners, entertainers, postpartum moms, and highly active seniors. I encompassed a full health approach – I monitored their health data via tech wearables, provided weekly meal plans, communicated with their practitioners, and guided their entire family to good health practices. Serving them as the cornerstone for all things health became my niche, even during challenges posed by COVID-19.

During the unknown times of COVID-19, I had to pivot and offer coaching virtually (as did many other trainers!) I was so comfortable coaching in-person, but I had to learn to coach over FaceTime and send clients workouts on spreadsheets. This was not my jam! But I figured it out and started using Trainerize – an app that allows me to send digital programs to clients. Over time, I had friends and family seeking more meaningful connection and needed guidance with a fitness routine and I was able to deliver that via the app and create programs that anyone can buy!

Another effect of COVID-19 was the boom in home gyms. Big box gyms had closed down, no more fun spin classes, or breathing on each other in hot yoga. People wanted to make a dedicated space in their home for fitness but didn’t know the first place to start to buy a piece of gym equipment.

At this point, I had seen my fair share of home gyms and knew what it took to create a functional space my client’s loved to be in. I did everything from equipment ordering, space layout, and decorating. I got the opportunity to help design a client’s gym in their new home built on Lake Travis. Next project is transforming a theater room into a home gym that required me to hire a contractor and bust some walls and tear up floors!

That brings us to today – currently, I’m still serving families in Austin for concierge fitness + health coaching. My fire for helping people and seeing them succeed burns brightly. I have digital programs on my website that sell online so that anybody can get access to the exercises and coaching that has helped my clients for the last 15 years. In 2026, I’m officially launching my home gym design company. My mission throughout all of my endeavors is still the same… help people overcome their challenges and give them resources to be the healthiest they can be.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think anything worth while rarely comes easily. When you are a business owner, your business and personal life are always intertwined. Since I started my business in 2011, I’ve also started a family. Running a business that is very dependent on customer service, physical demands of coaching, and always showing up requires a lot of energy. Having 3 boys, a husband, and taking care of a home requires a lot of energy. I take a lot of pride in both sides, so trying to be the very best I can be without judgement of myself has presented its struggles at times.

The biggest challenge in the health/fitness industry is the overload of information/opinions. I’ve always had a passion for health, anatomy, and biomechanics. I’m fascinated by the human body and equally driven to read and learn the science, but also very aware there are so many variables to health, human genetics, and behaviors. Every person is different, every health history is different, and everyone’s goal and motivation is different. I ask questions to my clients to truly get an understanding of what drives them, what they care about, what they want to be able to do, so that way I can give them the best possible resources to get them where they want to be. Navigating the noise is challenging when you hear so many contradictory statements online or on social media.

The fun challenge is that I’ve had many of my clients for 9+ years, so I’ve seen them achieve great health – they lost the weight, reversed the autoimmune condition, quit taking the pills, ran the marathon – but then what? Once you reach your goal do you continue raising the bar? change your hobbies? or just settle? Helping others navigate life’s ups and downs as a coach has been a life changing process for me personally. I’ve seen my client’s accomplish these great health measures, sell their company, get married – and I’ve also seen divorce, family deaths, job loss, and parents become empty nesters. Giving yourself grace and being open to adapt your fitness & lifestyle is key to longterm health.

I always say “find a way to stay in the game” there is no jumping on and off the wagon. We’re always in the game!

As you know, we’re big fans of CBM Fitness, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My fitness + health coaching business is “Where You Are Fitness”. The name “Where You Are Fitness” was born from my mission to meet you exactly where you are — at your fitness level, at your location, with your unique goals in mind. When you form a partnership with me, you get a coach to conveniently train you onsite where you are, or online wherever you go, so you stay consistent and get the health results you want.

In fitness, I specialize in strength training, mobility, and conditioning. In health, I focus on creating healthy behaviors, building habits, and setting positive mindsets. My clients explain my workouts as a full hour mix of mobility, strength, cardio, and stretching while we often talk about self-improvement, struggles, and our next best move. In just a few sessions, they are able to move better with good form to prevent injury and have the tools they need to frame their mindset and stay consistent.

I’m most proud of my clients accomplishments – keeping the majority of my tribe for 9+ years means we’ve created a strong relationship built on trust and results.

Hiring a coach can be a huge leap in improving your health – there are a lot of great trainers/coaches out there, especially in Austin, TX! Don’t be afraid to talk with multiple trainers before you make your decision – you will see them 2-3x/week so make sure you enjoy your time with them!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The AI personal trainer market is expected to hit $35 billion by 2030. That’s double from this year.

Fitness and health software is growing as people rely on the software to monitor their progress and recovery, and to participate in online fitness videos and programs when they are on the go.

Wearables will continue to be used to give valuable insight into daily health metrics and will gain more traction into preventive care and medical wellness.

Gyms and studios are seeing a bounce-back since COVID which is great for community! I think people really value having a hybrid option – a gym to go to, but also something at home or on-the-go.

More “mind-body” fitness will continue to pop-up as we focus on self-care, mental health, stress reduction, healthspan, longevity, and overall well-being. Things like low-impact strength, recovery, balance, joint health, breath work, meditation, and contrast therapy will get a lot of attention in the fast-paced society we live in.
