Hi Joshua, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a 21-year-old business owner. I own a pressure washing and window cleaning company here in Austin called Blue Pressure Washing. I moved from Amarillo to Austin in 2019 to pursue my lifelong dream of being a business owner. I to Austin moved with my good friend Ezra who later became my business partner. When we first arrived we spend the first couple of weeks going from cheap air BnB to cheap motel back and forth just trying to make a life here. We eventually got job offers and were able to get an apartment where my girlified also moved from Amarillo to join me. We both worked our new jobs for as long as we could while putting off our dreams of being business owners. Eventually, we put our two weeks in and decided to take all of our savings and assets and invest them into this company. I sold my car, my motorcycle, and anything worth value to get the money to start our company. Now Ezra and I run blue pressure washing full time where we have serviced hundreds of Austin residents and have made a real life for ourselves and our families.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Putting every penny into a business that you build from scratch has a lot of challenges like where am I going to eat today or will I be able to pay my rent. We never were guaranteed money so every day has been a grind to get out and find new clients and new ways to add value to our clients’ lives. Me, my girlfriend summer, and Ezra have overcome these obstacles and many more like having to overcome fears and mental challenges as we tried our best to just make it to the next month. Our lives could be altered by simply getting a blown tire because we would miss a job and then have to choose between buying food for ourselves or paying rent. we have stuck together as a team and done all sorts of odd jobs to make ends meet while we build this company!
