Exploring Life & Business with Julian & Paulina of La ola pop shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian & Paulina.

Hi Julian & Paulina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After both having regular 9 to 5 jobs for since forever, in 2017, we decided to try something different right out of our garage at home in Kyle. We began using Paulina’s old family recipes for ice cream and Popsicles using fresh ingredients and techniques. At first, we gave all our product away to friends and neighbors. Then when random people started knocking on our door all the time, we knew we had something special and began looking for a storefront.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building anything from scratch is always tough. Getting people to believe in your product is not an easy thing to do but when you believe in your product in your vision, it makes you get up in the morning and do it until everybody’s on board. Another obstacle is sometimes things get tough when you’re in business for yourself and no one‘s coming to come get you out of the hole you find yourself in so you do what you gotta do to move on. Always believe in yourself.

As you know, we’re big fans of La ola pop shop. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We make everything from scratch when it comes to frozen treats. We use real ingredients. Seasonal fruits. We are in the process of phasing out food dyes.. We cater for private events in corporate. And we just make our customers happy which is a reward for us

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Paulina’s brother got us off the ground by sending equipment to start the business all the way from Mexico without even telling us. I remember in the spring of 17 a giant semi pulling up to my driveway with a delivery in a giant wooden crate that contained the popsicle making machine that he had sent up.
