Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliann Gorman.
Hi Juliann, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In order to finish my music degree at UT, my husband Kemp and I moved to the great city of Austin, Texas in 2006. I had been a massage therapist for eight years at that point and was thrilled to land a position at Austin’s premier luxury day spa where I worked for nearly five years alongside inspiring and skilled bodyworkers and business owners.
After the birth of my first son Virgil in 2010, I was inspired to take my bodywork to the next level and opened a private studio inside “The Joint-the Chiropractic Place.” I learned so much working closely with Dr. Larry and the talented doctors there and had such amazing clients. I began to combine spa relaxation with specific injury rehab massage. I was hooked! Bodywork is powerful, and touch, relationship, connection, energy and love have never been more important. Being a conduit for that power is such a gift.
In 2013 a client suggested that I share my love and knowledge of all things massage with other LMTs. I love to lead, organize, and teach so it was a natural progression. With my two small boys in tow (Augie was born in 2012) and with a lot of help from Kemp, I hired my first LMT in 2013 and Sage Blossom Massage was born. In 2016, we opened our beautiful cozy Menchaca location, and in 2019 we proudly opened our beautiful Oak Hill location which includes Austin’s first Salt Therapy room! Thank you Austin and SB Team!
I’m so lucky to have such a professional, talented, and caring staff. I believe that the true essence of a business lies in the care of its staff. I want Sage Blossom to be a refuge not only for clients but for my team as well, a place for them to develop friendships, learn from each other, and grow in their professional and personal lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is never smooth! If it is, you’re not doing it right :). You have to have a lot of courage and faith to strike out on your own. You learn along the way how to lead, how to do your numbers and more. The key is learning from your mistakes. Take responsibility, learn the lesson, dust yourself off and move on.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sage Blossom’s mission is to create a place of peace and healing for all who enter. We are healers who inspire wholeness, wellness, self-acceptance, and peace and provide wellness opportunities for our community at many financial levels.
We are the first in Austin to offer Salt Therapy in our beautiful salt lounge. We also hold small group classed there (when safe again)
What matters most to you? Why?
Community, Giving back, mentorship, leadership, Living life at peace with who you are, your values, your work, and the difference you make.
