Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaela Thurman.
Hi Kaela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Care First started as a dream between myself and my husband, two emergency care providers who wanted to offer walk-in services for Liberty Hill, Texas. He is a firefighter and I am Nurse Practitioner, we actually met in the Emergency Room. When we first opened it was just the two of us and three nurses who are close to us and thankfully volunteered. Now we are a team of 4 Nurse Practitioners and 12 ancillary staff members. Our goal is to provide the kind of health care that is reasonably priced, personalized, and honest. We want to give our community the kind of care that we would want for ourselves and our family!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Hahaha, NO! First, I do not have a business background, I am a Nurse Practitioner!
I am still learning everyday but the first 24 months were a period of intense growth and required consistent commitment to figuring it all out.
Then…202o happened…it was our 3rd year in business. The amount of critical thinking, out of the box ideas, and pivoting necessary to survive were countless. Thankfully, we have pulled through even stronger.
On a beautiful “challenge” note, we have been growing our family as much as we have been growing our business. When we opened in 2017, we were a family of three and now are a family of five!!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We believe healthcare should be simple, straightforward and caring, and members of our community deserve nothing less. From the moment you step into our lobby, we are here to provide a personalized and truly beneficial experience. Our goal is to treat each patient like a member of our family ⎯ “honest, hometown healthcare,” as we like to call it.
We started as a primary care provider with some urgent care services. Now we are housed with another business Renew Psychiatric Services, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. AND we have 2 Nurse Practitioners that provide an Integrative approach to primary care. I am personally passionate about incorporating many treatment modalities for patient healing.
We believe in attending to physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health!
