Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Keefer.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my business back in 2019 with the intention of selling a fitness product off of Amazon, however, my company grew to be much more than that. After months of looking for a product that would be small enough for storage costs and light enough to ship; I stumbled upon fabric resistance bands. This was the perfect product to put on Amazon and I had invested enough money to make my own cheetah print pattern that would stand out. During this process, I decided to name my company CakeyBums. I chose this name because it was fun and catchy.
While gathering a group of women to test the product before launching it on Amazon, I realized that CakeyBums would be a lot bigger than Amazon itself. The women that were part of the test group were instantly inspired by my story and felt empowered to continue on their own journies pursuing their dreams which lead me to make CakeyBums mission to empower women inside and outside of the gym. From that point on, we started hosting women’s booty camps and collaborating with other women-owned businesses to host events that uplift and inspire other women.
As we grew, CakeyBums was able to expand into activewear. We created our special ribbed scrunch booty leggings which give the illusion of a bigger booty. Our leggings not only provide amazing tummy control but are also squat proof. Our scrunch booty leggings come in four fabulous colors. We are expanding our activewear line everyday and continue to come out with fun, new drops!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The ride has definitely been bumpy, but that’s part of entrepreneurship. I started CakeyBums in spring 2019, right before the pandemic. Unfortunately, because of social distancing and the lockdown, our booty camps had been brought to a halt. During that time, I started focusing more on online sales and Amazon, which helped scale CakeyBums. We were able to enter into activewear and expand the line. Alongside that, there’s been plenty of lessons that I was grateful to learn from. I’ve been through a lot with the business but the most important lesson I learned was never giving up and that there is a solution to every problem.

CakeyBums is a fitness company that sells activewear and fitness accessories. We strive to make sure that we are more than an online fitness company but a company that is active in our community as well. Our booty camps and hosting/attending events are major ways we do this. We specialize in activewear and are currently known for our glute bands and our eye catching ribbed scrunch booty leggings. We have more clothing drops coming as we continue to expand our line. Although we are an activewear brand, we focus on uplifting and empowering women to follow their dreams. Fitness has truly inspired me and shown me that with hard work, discipline and sacrifice, you can reach your goals. I wanted to show other women that the same concepts we use in the gym can also help us reach our goals outside of the gym. We believe everyone is capable of accomplishing their dreams if they are willing to put in the time and energy it takes. We want you to remember our brand because we believe in you and your goals!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
A lot of people don’t know that I am a creative person by nature. I love art, poetry, photography, etc. I recently had the opportunity to perform one of my poetry pieces at the Wichita Art Museum in Wichita, Kansas.
