Hi Magdalena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Austin, TX from New York State in 2003 to work for IBM as a System Integration Engineer. There were many aspects that I loved about working at IBM but something was always missing. When I left IBM in 2013, I was looking for something that had more personal meaning for me. I found just that by creating Fashion Reloved, LLC, a luxury fashion consignment for men and women. I was able to fulfill my passion for couture and commitment to sustainability while helping the world recycle high-end goods. I find great joy in helping clients declutter their closets because in doing so, I am able to make unique fashion pieces accessible to others while promoting eco-friendly habits.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Switching from an engineering career into fashion was definitely a big jump, I was, however, selling my own designer items on the side and I truly enjoyed the whole process. I felt like my hobby turned into work when I made Fashion Reloved an official business in 2015. Finding new clients at the very beginning was definitely challenging but when you are passionate about what you do, things will fall into place eventually. And they did. Today I have clients as far as California and sell items all over the world.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fashion Reloved, LLC?
Since I sell online mostly with occasional Pop Up shops around Austin, TX, I am able to give my consignors 70-85% back on their consigned items. I am only a text and email away when my clients have questions or concerns, which is a plus to many who dealt with bigger consignment businesses.
I meet with clients around Austin and the surrounding areas and get items shipped from other states around the US. Once your items are received, they are authenticated, examined carefully and posted on my website and other selling platforms for ultimate exposure.
I am so proud to take part in prolonging the life of luxury goods and limit the amount that goes into the landfills.
