Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Sanchez.
Hi Maggie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had recently been employed working as a marketing rep for a new pharmacy here in Austin September 2013. After three months had pass by, I was expecting a baby boy when I gave them the news two days later I got fired. It was really hard for me at the time to be pregnant and find a decent job. So I stayed home throughout my pregnancy. Ones my son Christopher was three months old, I decided to get back to work not once did it cross my mind my business would be as big as it is now. I always loved to clean my home was always clean so I truly enjoyed it. My husband Chris helped me post-cleaning adds on Craigslist at the time and sure enough, I got two cleanings that same day. I rushed to Walmart and remember buying a cheap vacuum and some cleaning supplies. As time progressed, Chris helped me build a website and get my OMGMAIDS LLC. I had build a good enough clientele for the past three years that it was time to start hiring. Now not only do we still clean in living homes but now cleaning has expanded to Airbnb (hot market here in Austin), Bio hazard, mold, after construction cleaning and so much! more!
I am beyond grateful for never giving up and for having great support back at home. It really is a family team.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a woman, it’s hard to make a successful business specially in a field full of men. I’ve had people turn OMGMAIDS down so many times after the fact they knew I was a woman running things. But I’ve proven myself and my work ethic to many people and now we are a top vendor for many companies here in Austin. I also wouldn’t be where I’m at without my OMGMAIDS team.
We’ve been impressed with OMGMAIDS, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
OMGMAIDS is one of the top cleaning companies here in Austin, with OMGMAIDS you truly get the hole package. From cleaning a small one bedroom apartment to cleaning huge hospitals. We specialize in Airbnb cleanings which have to meet a really high standard. Also, we are mold Certified here in the state of Texas, meaning we also travel for work or when state needs teams for disaster cleaning. We are also rated five star on Google and FB and our reviews are outstanding! We recently created an Instagram witch will give our viewers a more personal and educational experiment on how we clean. We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
It happens quite often when we arrive to big job sites people always think I’m an employee. They get blown away that I’m the owner and I look young. I guess it’s a good thing.
