Today we’d like to introduce you to Merhrab Akakhail
Hi Merhrab , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have been working as a translator for almost 14 years. During one of my assignments, I noticed another translator struggling with their translation. I offered to help, and they gladly accepted. By the end of the assignment, the Limited English Proficient (LEP) individual expressed appreciation for my translation skills and mentioned that they could not understand a word the previous translator had said.
Curious about the issue, I asked the translator what had happened. They explained that they were assigned to interpret Dari, but they were actually a Pashto speaker. It became clear that the mistake was not the translator’s fault but rather the company’s, which had assigned the wrong interpreter.
That day, I decided to launch my own translation and interpretation company with a single rule: Only native speakers are allowed to work with us. If you are not a native speaker, you cannot be a part of our team.
Today, I am proud to say that our company provides translation and interpretation services in over 30 languages, thanks to our team of native-speaking interpreters. We are based in Austin, Texas, but we offer services across the United States.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I follow a very simple rule: I don’t go to bed with questions in my mind. This habit has made my difficult journey simpler and more interesting because it gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day by finding answers to my questions.
Every morning, I follow this mantra:
Today is a new day, a new chapter.
Learn something new.
Take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Austin is a beautiful city with a positive vibe, a helpful community, and many social groups. It’s a fun city, and I really like it.
However, the growing homeless population does not represent the true beauty of our Austin.
