Exploring Life & Business with Natasha Motongo of Utopia Creations ATX, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Motongo.

Hi Natasha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Kenya, but I was not there long. My mother imagined more opportunities for me. She brought me to the US when I was 3, and we made North Richland Hills are residence. My mother raised me to be independent, but she still instilled some traditional woman role qualities that hailed from our cultural background. I was fascinated by her strength and perseverance. She was a woman of intelligence, compassion, and integrity. I honored her ability to raise 2 girls independently in a foreign country with little to no help. Her tenacity shined bright. She died when I was 13, but those qualities, the ones I revered the most, I keep ingrained in my memories of her. I took a non-traditional route to achieve my educational goal of practicing medicine. I graduated from UT Austin School of Nursing with a Master’s and became a board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist. To those unfamiliar with the title, it is similar in practice to a Nurse Practitioner. I love being a nurse; my mom was a nurse too! I could find a perfect balance of practicing medicine with autonomy without reserving 10-12 years of my school life. It was during the pandemic that I reflected on my life.

At this point, I had been married to my college sweetheart and had 2 kids. The cogitation of my life had not been a negative one. It showed me how important my role as a nurse was in a big way. I just wanted to be a part of something that created happiness differently. I thought of how many events like weddings, graduations, birthdays, baby showers, and more had been canceled during this time. It inspired me in some ways. I attended my best friend’s wedding, my first time on the 360 booths. I loved how exciting it made me feel, and I watched how happy it made other people feel. The smiles, the laughs. A moment in time for just a few seconds, but worth a lifetime of memories. It was amazing! I needed to be a part of this somehow. It was a few months after her shower, with lots of research and a few mentors along the way. I created Utopia Creations ATX, LLC. UTOPIA describes that magical moment in time when everything around you is absolutely perfect. I wanted to create that feeling for everyone.

I have only been in business for 6 months, but it has been my part-time gig. I love it. I hope to continue to create Utopic moments for hundreds of people in the Austin area for years to come. I plan to add the addition of traditional booths as well.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest challenge has been keeping up with marketing and social media presence. I have been fortunate enough to reach people through the word of mouth and great referrals. It takes a lot of time and creativity to reach the type of audience you need to keep things fresh. I’ve produced a plan that will help combat this challenge in the future.

As you know, we’re big fans of Utopia Creations ATX, LLC. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
