Today we’d like to introduce you to Norris And Luanna Cole.
Hi Norris and Luanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 1994, we bought a home with a little land where our kids could play, explore, and simply be kids. Its unique antebellum charm stole our hearts, and it quickly became more than just a house—it became a place where memories were made.
After a few years, friends kept telling us it would make a perfect wedding venue. In 1998, the Plantation House welcomed its first couples, and over 20 years and more than 1,000 events, it became a place where love stories were celebrated and families gathered.
In 2017, we closed the wedding chapter, and then came a simple question from Norris: “Do you want to do a Bed and Breakfast?” My answer was yes. And so, in January 2019, the Plantation House Boutique Inn was reborn—not just as a business, but as a home where guests are welcomed like family, rooms carry the names of our grandchildren, and every corner reflects the love, warmth, and joy that shaped our lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The transition to a bed and breakfast has actually been surprisingly smooth. Our biggest early challenge? Finding a place to sleep! For the first six months, we camped in whichever guest room wasn’t booked—and later, in our grandchildren’s playroom on a daybed trundle that was murder on our backs.
Sleeping in the guest rooms wasn’t all bad—it let us see the inn through our guests’ eyes. Eventually, we carved out a permanent space in our study, adding a new bathroom, closet, and a perfect little study. Everyone needs a space—including innkeepers!
Through it all, we’ve run this business on faith—the unseen, the unknown—and it continues to guide us every day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Plantation House Boutique Inn?
The Plantation House Boutique Inn is more than just a place to stay—it’s a home where guests are welcomed as part of our extended family. Each room carries the name of one of our grandchildren, and every detail reflects warmth, charm, and the personal touch that comes from running a family-owned inn.
We specialize in creating memorable, intimate experiences for our guests—whether it’s a weekend getaway, a romantic retreat, or simply a peaceful escape. What sets us apart is the combination of antebellum elegance, cozy comfort, and a genuine dedication to hospitality. Our goal is for every guest to feel like they’re walking into a home that’s cared for with love, not just a hotel.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the reputation we’ve built: an inn where guests feel known, welcomed, and cherished. At the Plantation House Boutique Inn, it’s not just about a place to stay—it’s about creating moments, memories, and a sense of belonging that keeps people coming back.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
We’ve learned that God gives everyone a gift—ours just happens to be hospitality. Welcoming guests into our home has reminded us how alike we really are. Everyone wants kindness, to feel noticed, a good meal, and a comfortable bed. In the end, it always comes back to the golden rule: treat others the way you’d want to be treated. It’s simple, but powerful.
