Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Cirkiel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born & raised in Austin, TX. My Father started in the automotive industry in 1946. Through the years when someone moved away, he would help them & buy their house. Collecting multiple properties along the way he then started a real estate company in the 70’s. Primarily just buying large tracts of land & selling them either owner finance or on VA land loans. Fast forward to 1976 when my husband & I moved back to the Austin area. Daddy said I had to get my broker’s license & that was the beginning. Since then I work days, nights & weekends. Serving Austin & the surrounding area for residential, commercial plus farm & ranch needs. In my spare time, I manage about 85 front doors. Of course, over three dozen of those are for our family.
Back in 1976 I immediately took over the real estate firm and turned it into a full-service company. My Father retired and then passed away in 2009. Prior to that, I made him & my Mother lunch every day! When he passed away the City of Austin named a street after him since he did so much for the community. June 27, 2022 my husband & I were married 49 years. He is an attorney in mental health & disability law primarily helping kids with special needs. We have two wonderful children & three fabulous grandchildren. My whole goal in life is to be of service. It is terrific being able to serve the children & grandchildren of my clients I started with three decades ago.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
WOW! I could write a book. The house where the City of Austin was going to condemn because the family had been going to the bathroom on the front porch for three years. No working plumbing inside & this was central Austin! I sold it for the land & no one could go inside since the flooring was really not in place. Had social workers help them move & got them into a new home. Or the ad I had to write that said…please do not let any of the 27 cats out. They have never been outside the home! Then the one…house free with purchase of land. In the times of the many foreclosures, I did the “cash for keys” Only one I had to give up on was the one to meet the deputy because the meth dealer was seeing me on his cameras & coming to the door with a gun. Heartbreaking stories at that time of the older woman who wanted to take her rose bushes with her…she had been giving the house payment to her son to pay since her husband passed away & the son never made a payment. As for my personal life, I have been fortunate to always being able to serve my clients. Lots of wonderful folks and happy outcomes.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Stake your claim in Texas! It has always been my pleasure to be of service. When people ask what area I specialize in I have to admit that I go where I am needed. Seems like seven days a week there is business in the entire Austin & surrounding areas. Since I have been doing this so long almost all of my business is either past clients, their families or referrals. Since my Father started in Austin in 1946 his name was always the brand. That being said, new folks have moved into the area & if they call me it is because they know my reputation. I have never solicited agents or business. There has never been a need. The Realtors that work with me are a stellar bunch. They show the same grace & service that we all pride ourselves on a daily basis.
What does success mean to you?
Success is truly taking care of others.
