Rock, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2002, I made the decision to dedicate my life to entrepreneurship and our country. After proudly serving four years in the US Navy beginning in 2008, I used my college education, receiving a bachelor’s degree in audio production from the Art Institute of Austin, to better myself, my family, and most importantly my community. Music is what leads the soul of our children, and as a father with an appreciation and understanding for music, my calling came naturally. Today I proudly operate Montop Studios in Austin, Texas alongside my wife, while we simultaneously build our professional smoke shop Montop Pop N Stop and real estate business Oofy Homes, LLC
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overcoming obstacles building a brand name is to be expected. Long hours, street work, ground-level initiatives and many long nights counting inventory, overhead, and baby bottles is all in a days work around here. As a strong family unit, we have learned to appreciate every obstacle as a challenge to be overcome. Each struggle is what strengthens our unity and continues to drive us to be successful.

Beyond working with many platinum-selling artists cornering the local hemp industry, and real estate market, we like to pride ourselves in quality and craftsmanship. Almost anyone can purchase a microphone, sell a house, or download a beat, but it takes real understanding, passion, and the ability to deliver results that get you included in the credits of the some of the greatest productions, sales, and sounds of all times. And that’s where you can expect to see us.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
If you are the smartest person room in the room, you are the most ignorant. You are a product of the five people you spend the most time with, choose wisely. You can turn your vehicle into a university with audiobooks. and most importantly, the greatest mentor of all is God. Keep your mind right. Your spirit clean and a healthy body, for we are what we see, we are what we hear, we are what we eat.
