Today we’d like to introduce you to Roy Austin.
Hi Roy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the rural border town of Del Rio, Texas, which taught me the values of hard work, kindness, and how to build safe spaces where people feel seen. My everyday perspective is deeply shaped by my mom, who spent 40 years as an elementary school teacher working with economically disadvantaged kids just like me. Momma instilled in me the importance of rich values and the necessity of lifelong learning. I constantly tell people that remaining a “student” in everything I do has been the foundation of my success.
My professional journey began in the supply chain industry, where I spent over 20 years in leadership, operations, and sales roles. It was there that I fell in love with delivering trade shows and conference experiences, allowing my eye for creative strategy, physical production, and digital interaction to bloom. Over time, I transitioned fully into event production, honing my soft and technical skills by learning from incredible mentors. That led me to direct everything from global brand activations and mobile tours to massive festivals, interactive installations, and VR builds, partnering with everyone from ambitious startups to global powerhouses like Netflix, Meta, and Garena—with more to come.
Throughout this process, I recognized how my positivity and perspective filled a massive need in the industry for experiences that actually stick with guests. The events world is full of flash-in-the-pan moments and generic giveaways, but I wanted to focus on inclusion, cleverness, and creating deeply meaningful dialogue that builds long-term connections.
People often tell me I know how to give audiences FOMO; truth be told, that simply comes from a genuine desire to create culturally aware moments that live in people’s memories forever.
That passion for giving people something to remember drove led me to embrace a future at Dispatch Tree, based here in Central Texas. When I left the supply chain sector in 2022, I initially struggled to land work in event marketing simply because my previous job titles on LinkedIn didn’t include the word “marketing”—go figure. So, I told my wife, Krystle, an elementary school principal, that I would create my own opportunities because I knew the world needed more goodness in the field. Equipped with a deep understanding of branding, technical execution, creative strategy, and logistics, I set out to build what I saw was missing in the world: an events partner that is consistent, honest, and clever.
The name itself tells our story: ‘dispatch’ denotes communication, and ‘tree’ symbolizes our dedication to amplifying a brand’s message by branching out in every direction. Today, we operate as a collective of expert freelance producers and technical badasses focused on creative storytelling and strategic event marketing.
As Founder and Executive Producer, my day-to-day is about translating high-level strategy into flawless execution. I work closely with community event organizers, top-tier marketers, PR teams, and sales leaders, combining creative thinking with operational rigor. Whether it’s managing multi-city event logistics or a highly interactive tech-enabled experience, my core focus remains on human-centered leadership and building experiences that authentically connect brands with real people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, it has been twice as hard and twice as rewarding than I could have ever imaged. I am so grateful for the people who have placed deep trust in me and my teams, our mission is to live out the vision of our clients while providing a real extension of leadership in all corners of the globe.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Dispatch Tree, we are in the business of creating experiences that make people pause and say “WOW”.
We design and deliver live events and brand activations that uniquely blend creative strategy, visuals, technical production, and digital interaction. Everything we do is meaningful, drives real engagement, and makes people want more.
After two decades in global logistics, experiential marketing, and event production, our distinction comes working with people across the world and a deep affinity with local cultures. Most people have likely seen my work at major cultural touchstones like Memphis in May, SXSW, or Austin Food & Wine.
We specialize in translating high-level strategy into flawless execution across the board. Whether it’s a high-profile sporting event, a massive music festival, a national trade show, or a cutting-edge technical build, we’ve partnered with the best of the best as a key events partner delivering desired outcomes time after time.
What sets us apart is the engine running behind the creative vision. Because I spent 20 years in the supply chain industry before transitioning fully into event production, we bring an unmatched level of operational precision to our events. A lot of agencies can make a pitch a beautiful and flashy, but we actually have the professional savvy to determine what is possible and how to pull it off flawlessly across multiple cities and massive crowds, on a budget.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of our human-centered and “silly sells” approach. Brands and organizations spend millions of dollars overthinking what people want, my practical life experiences show up in our dedication to communicating and amplifying a brand’s messaging. Our slogan is “Managing Your Message” because that is exactly what we do well.
But beyond the big brands and large scale events, this company is built on a genuine desire to help people—any way, any time, and any place. That same ethos is why I serve as the Multicultural Outreach Chair for SCORE Austin, providing pro-bono steady mentorship to local entrepreneurs who are dreams turned doers just like me.
Ultimately, I want your readers to know that if you are building meaningful experiences you have to look beyond what is in front of you and we are just the team to help you share your company with the world.
We create culturally relevant experiences that accelerate growth and live on in people’s memories forever. This is what we do,
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Humility – My favorite saying is “Only an Idiot Knows Everything”, and the companies we work for understand that not one party has all the answers but through a collaborative mindset we harness then supercharge a power of togetherness.
A Beginners Mindset – I enter every conversation, project and new relationship without bias, by opening up myself to learning I never lose out on critical information shared with me.
