Hi Vasyl, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Vasyl, I’m from Ukraine and I moved to Austin from Denver, CO. And the idea was to open interactive location for photos and videos and not only. My friend and I have a perfect experience for it. I used to work for a glossy magazine and I was managing a photo studio and worked with photographers. And my friend (his name is Oleg) has experience with construction and design. So, we decided to combine knowledge and skills and start Selfie Portal Austin.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, it took us 31 days to build. And we were ready to be open for February 14th, we invited local bloggers, models, photographers, influencers. Lots of people were planning to come. And BOOM Texas winter. After everyone had own problems to do and fix. So, didn’t go how we planned.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Selfie Portal Austin is interactive photo/video studio (playground), place for all generations, fun and family-friendly. It includes 35 colorful, different installations (backdrops) which set up with professional lights. This studio is located in Lakeline Mall (Cedar Park, TX). This is what you can do: 1. Private events, team building, corporate events 2. Social Media Content 3. Birthdays parties, family reunions, picnics 4. Professional photo & video sessions, modeling, magazine sessions and retail fashion products 5. Music videos, YouTube videos, TV content, commercials.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
To being new and start working in Austin we knew nobody. So, of course we try to reach local bloggers and influencers. So, and we got help from some of them. We learn how to be a small business here, how supportive community is.
