Today we’d like to introduce you to Adiba Chowdhury
Hi Adiba, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Adiba, and I’m the owner and chief food stylist at The Board Bae ATX, a South Austin-based charcuterie company.
I like to call myself a global citizen—I was born in Asia, raised in Africa, studied in Europe, and eventually found my way to America. Throughout my journey, one thing has always remained true: food has a way of bringing people together. It breaks down barriers, sparks conversations, and turns even the simplest moments into something special.
Charcuterie, to me, is more than just arranging meats and cheeses—it’s about transforming simple ingredients into something extraordinary. I love creating unique flavor pairings and presenting them as edible works of art. What started as a passion for curating beautiful boards for friends and family soon turned into a business when they encouraged me to share my vision with a wider audience.
This journey began a year ago as a complete pivot from my previous career in medicine. After COVID and some postpartum challenges, I realized I needed a creative outlet—something that allowed for flexibility while also fulfilling my passion. Charcuterie became that outlet, blending my love for food, artistry, and meaningful connections.
Fast forward to today, The Board Bae ATX is a thriving, female-owned and operated small business. We prioritize sourcing from local Austin makers, collaborating with fellow small businesses, and striving for zero food waste. We proudly work with organizations like Keep Austin Fed to ensure that nothing goes to waste.
From weddings and bridal showers to baby showers, bachelorette parties, and corporate events, we create bespoke charcuterie spreads that elevate any gathering. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I can’t wait to see how our community continues to grow and evolve!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business from the ground up is incredibly hard—especially as a female entrepreneur. There’s a severe lack of resources and guidance for women-owned small businesses in Austin, and navigating the operational side of things was often challenging. If it weren’t for a strong network of empowered women, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Leaning on that community has been invaluable, especially when answers weren’t easy to find.
One of the biggest struggles has been simply getting the word out. You can have the best product, but if people don’t know you exist, it’s an uphill battle. This is where social media became a game-changer. Overnight, I had to become not just a business owner, but a content creator, learning the ins and outs of marketing to grow my brand organically. Like many small businesses, we don’t have the budget for large-scale advertising, so social media became our primary tool for visibility and connection.
Sourcing has also been a challenge—finding the exact products, flavors, and ingredients I want to feature on our boards while prioritizing sustainability isn’t always easy. Minimizing waste is something I care deeply about, which means seeking out biodegradable platters and working with organizations like Keep Austin Fed to ensure surplus food goes to those in need.
Despite the challenges, every hurdle has been an opportunity to learn and grow. The struggles make the successes even more meaningful, and I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.
We’ve been impressed with The Board Bae ATX, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At The Board Bae ATX, we specialize in creating customized, bespoke charcuterie spreads for all kinds of events. Whether it’s a wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, bachelorette party, corporate gathering, or an intimate picnic, we design each spread to reflect the host’s vision and theme. What sets us apart is our attention to detail—we don’t just assemble cheese and meats; we craft an experience. From incorporating fresh florals and greenery to tailoring every board to the event’s aesthetic, we ensure that every setup feels elevated and unique.
One of the things we’re most proud of as a brand is our commitment to inclusivity when it comes to food. We take allergies and dietary restrictions seriously, ensuring that everyone—no matter their dietary needs—can enjoy a beautifully curated charcuterie experience. Whether it’s gluten-free, vegetarian, nut-free, halal, or dairy-free options, we customize our boards so that no one feels left out.
Our offerings range from small, intimate picnic boxes for two to grab-and-go party platters for easy entertaining, all the way to lavish, large-scale grazing tables for major events. No matter the size or occasion, our goal is to bring people together through beautifully presented, thoughtfully curated food.
For anyone looking to elevate their next gathering, The Board Bae ATX is here to make your vision a reality—one delicious, artfully arranged bite at a time.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Creating an inclusive culture centered around food – its never been more important than now. And I hope to do this while leaving the world a better & healthier place for my daughter – the future generation.
