Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyse Snyder.
Hi Alyse, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, Eastern medicine was far outside anything I had ever known. What I did feel, even as a young girl, was a pull in my heart, a sense that I was meant to be of service in some way, though I couldn’t yet explain how. By the time I was 14, I imagined myself becoming a pediatrician, believing that path would allow me to care for others. That same year, my mother suffered a back injury that shifted the course of both her life and mine. After visiting some of the top universities in NC; Duke, Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest, the message was the same: short of back surgery, there wasn’t much that could help her. Instead, she turned to acupuncture, a decision that opened a door neither of us could have imagined.
I went with her to a clinic in Florida, and the moment I walked in and saw shelves lined with jars of herbs, I felt a curiosity unlike anything before. Over the next two weeks, my mother had daily treatments, and I watched her emotional and physical well being profoundly shift. Her pain began to ease, her joy returned, and her energy came back in a way I hadn’t seen in so long. At that age, it moved me deeply to see her come back to herself through this medicine, and I knew this was the path that was meant for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This year marks 20 years since I became licensed. Even though Eastern medicine has been practiced for thousands of years, at the time it wasn’t a common path. Many people wondered why I didn’t choose a more familiar path. But after seeing how much this medicine helped my mother, I couldn’t turn away from it. I began graduate school in Seattle, and halfway through the four-year master’s program the school went bankrupt. I had to decide whether to walk away or begin again. I chose to continue, moving to Los Angeles, where I lived for 10 years and deepened into my practice. I also earned my doctorate while working full time, seeing patients, and raising two children. Life was full in every direction, and I felt such gratitude for being able to grow as both a mother and a practitioner at the same time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Same as my name / Dr. Alyse Snyder, DACM, LAC?
In Austin, I discovered a beautiful community and sisterhood that continue to shape how I share my work. Over the last seven years, I’ve co-facilitated retreats around the world, taught sound healing, and created what I call heart-rooted medicine, an approach that brings Eastern medicine, energy work, and frequency into one practice. I also practice Advanced Allergy Therapeutics (AAT), a frequency-based method that supports people with respiratory, chemical, and food sensitivities.
Writing has always been part of how I express my work. I began my Instagram simply as a space to write from the heart, not knowing it would grow into a place where thousands would connect with my words and with this medicine.
I’m proud to have been recently recognized by Austin Monthly as one of the city’s top three acupuncturists, an honor that reflects the trust of the community I serve. In recent years, I’ve also expanded into virtual sessions, allowing me to support clients all over the world. While my in-person practice remains at the core of what I do, these offerings have opened new ways of working with energy beyond physical space.
To me, heart-rooted medicine is about working with frequency to create spaces of deep healing.
What are your plans for the future?
In the next year, I’ll be co-facilitating retreats in Costa Rica, Bali, and Mexico, teaching sound healing to others, helping host women’s circles, and continuing to grow my practice in Austin. I’m also expanding the ways I share sound and frequency medicine, with virtual sessions allowing me to connect with clients all over the world. The future feels electric, and I carry gratitude for being part of the collective rising in frequency.
