Hidden Gems: Meet Cody And Sarah Caswell of Ivory Home LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody And Sarah Caswell

Hi Cody and Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My wife Sarah and I started flipping houses right out of college in 2019. I (Cody) grew up in the real estate industry, so though flipping houses was a new venture for us, we were not unfamiliar with real estate in general. Quickly, we fell in love with the process of taking what was worn down and neglected and turning it into something beautiful and functional that could be used for generations to come. There’s just something about charming elements from our past that can’t be recreated or replaced – they can only be restored, and that’s what we did. House by house, we refined our craft and design expertise to build a name for ourselves in the local renovation and home design scene. After some successful projects, other real estate investors in our area started taking notice of how thoughtfully designed and unique our homes were and began asking my wife Sarah if she would be interested in designing their projects as well. This is where Ivory Home truly got its start. We began designing projects for other investors in our local market in 2021, and in 2023, we moved to Austin to further refine our home renovation and design skills in one of the most design-centered areas in America. Today, Ivory Home has renovated over 50 homes across the south and has designed over 100 renovations for other investors and developers all across the US. We’re committed to helping restore neighborhoods in America, one house at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very fun, but not easy road along the way! Real estate investing is a tough industry – especially right now. A lot of your success depends on factors that are out of your control such as market supply and the interest rate environment for homeowners. Before 2023, residential real estate markets across the US were very hot. Homes sold in less than a week (we all remember) with multiple offers, so as an investor, this was such an easy time! Over the past two years, however, it’s gotten tough for investors as average days on the market for homes increased and market supply has skyrocketed.

The fundamentals of real estate investing still ring true, however, and this is what we are sticking to. Buyers love homes in established neighborhoods, with historic charm that can’t be replicated. This is what we are committed to providing to the local Austin market, and our clients across the US. We want our designs to reflect the original beauty of the home, the neighborhood it sits in, and the city it’s located in.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ivory Home is aiming to be America’s go-to interior design service specifically tailored to real estate investors. We design flips, short-term rentals, and residential new construction developments for investors all across the US. Traditionally, interior design services are a high-cost, hourly-based service for high-paying homeowners and developers, causing this service to be reserved for the luxury residential world. We’re striving to break this industry norm by offering affordable, flat-rate pricing to our clients so that they can experience the benefit of having a professional designer on their team, without the high-ticket price.

In addition to designing for investors across the US, Ivory Home flips houses locally across the Austin metro, documenting our journey on our Instagram and YouTube accounts. We’re committed to restoring Austin and teaching others how to restore their communities, one house at a time!

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
