Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrell Miller.
Hi Darrell, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story is about surviving setbacks and turning them into fuel. Nothing in my life was handed to me, I had to build every piece of it from scratch. I’ve gone through financial pressure, legal battles, relationship issues, and moments where I had to choose between giving up or leveling up. Every time, I chose to build.
I started multiple businesses long before I ever had the money or the support to do it “the right way,” but I’m still here growing them. I’ve reinvented myself over and over from remodeling, to running a salon/barbershop, to becoming an inventor and bringing Spot Halo to life from nothing but an idea and pure determination.
My story isn’t clean or perfect. It’s gritty, messy, and honest. But everything I’ve been through taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and how to show up every day no matter what’s thrown at me. I’m still writing the next chapter, but one thing is certain: I refused to stay where life tried to leave me. And that’s why I’m here today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth. I’ve been hit with setbacks that would’ve made a lot of people quit financial pressure, legal battles, personal heartbreak, rebuilding my life more than once, and trying to hold everything together while still being a parent and a provider. There were days where it felt like I was fighting fires from every direction and still expected to show up like nothing was burning.
I’ve had to push through moments where I had no support, no roadmap, and no safety net. I built businesses from a place of survival, not comfort. I learned to stay focused while people doubted me, counted me out, or tried to create a narrative that didn’t match the truth. I had to teach myself how to keep moving forward when mentally and emotionally I was running on fumes.
But every challenge hardened me. It taught me discipline, patience, and resilience. It forced me to grow into someone who doesn’t break under pressure I adapt, I rebuild, and I come back stronger. My obstacles didn’t stop me. They shaped me into someone who knows how to stand on his own two feet, make his own path, and keep fighting no matter how heavy the weight gets.
We’ve been impressed with T-Rex Kitchen & Bath Remodeling | Suede & Steel Salon Studio Barbershop | Spot Halo, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My businesses were built on the idea that if something doesn’t exist the way it should, I’ll create it myself. I run T-Rex Kitchen & Bath Remodeling, Suede & Steel Salon Studio, and I’m the inventor behind Spot Halo a patent-pending cleaning device designed to solve a problem that almost every household deals with but no product ever fully addressed.
What people should know is that everything I build comes from experience, not just theory. In remodeling, I focus on honest craftsmanship and clear communication the things homeowners constantly say are missing in this industry. I specialize in kitchens and bathrooms, and I’m known for being hands-on, detail-driven, and upfront. No shortcuts, no sales gimmicks just quality work and results you can actually see.
Suede & Steel started as a vision to create a different kind of salon/barbershop environment one that values professionalism, consistency, and respect for clients and stylists. It’s a brand built around culture, not just services.
Spot Halo is the part of my brand that I’m most proud of, because it represents innovation and growth. I designed it from scratch, engineered multiple versions, sourced manufacturers, and launched it entirely on my own. What sets it apart is simple: it works. It solves a real problem in a way that’s never been done before. That product represents the way I approach everything find a gap, build a solution, and make it better than what exists.
At the end of the day, what sets all my brands apart is the same foundation: reliability, transparency, and the willingness to outwork anyone. I want people to know that anything with my name on it came from grit, real experience, and the belief that if you want something done right, you build it yourself.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is simple: being surrounded by the people I love. My kids, my girlfriend, and her daughter that’s my real foundation. I’ve got a 10-year-old boy/girl twins, a 14-year-old teenager, and a 9-year-old bonus daughter, and seeing all of them together brings a kind of peace and purpose that nothing else ever has.
Sports also make me happy not just watching them, but sharing those moments with the kids, coaching them, competing with them, and teaching them things that go beyond the game. Those little memories stick.
And lately, I’ve found a new kind of happiness in cooking for everyone. I never used to see myself as the “family dinner” type, but now it’s something I look forward to. There’s something powerful about preparing a meal, calling everyone to the table, and being present no distractions, just connection.
What makes me happiest is knowing I’m Working on self growth, showing up. Not halfway, not when it’s convenient fully. Being present, being involved, being the man they can count on. That’s the kind of happiness that actually lasts.
