Hidden Gems: Meet Eduardo Duran of Victory Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eduardo Duran.

Hi Eduardo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my chiropractic journey as a patient. I had hurt myself and herniated 3 discs in my lumbar spine. I was unable to walk. I was under the protocol of my insurance provider and their doctors, so I was forced to go through a full year of physical therapy and what they deemed to be rehabilitation.

After a year, I had reached what my MMI according to them (maximum medical improvement). The neurosurgeon then had a consultation with me and told me that I would need to have spinal surgery if I ever wanted to be able to walk again, or live my life without pain.

I had found a woman who had written a blog post about her journey with the same low back herniations and what she did to fix it with chiropractic. I told my “expert” doctor that I did not accept his diagnosis, and that I wanted to go a different route. Looking back now I can see the anger on his face and he said “what do you want me to then for you?” I told him that I needed him to write me a prescription for chiropractic. He then told me that I was hoping for a supernatural recovery. As a Christian, I responded “Amen.”

My journey was not easy, I still was unable to move my right foot past my left foot when walking. However, I started going to the chiropractor. He then recommended that I come twice a day. I went in the morning and in the evening. I went for 2, maybe 3 months. My health was progressing along the way slowly.

When I finished the acute care, I was able to walk again. My daily pain had subsided and I felt great. I never had the surgery and when I went back to the neurosurgeon that had told me that I had to have surgery, the interesting thing is, he was not at all even interested in how I had improved my health. That was when I realized he was only concerned about doing the surgery, not my health.

It was during that time period of healing and after that I realized that I had been given a gift from that chiropractor. It was during that time as well that I felt the pull for me to become a chiropractor and give that gift to others. So, that is how I got to “here”

My mission was; to give back and save 1 person from having surgery. Well that happened in my first 6 months of being open, now I have changed my scope to helping as many as possible through chiropractic to avoid surgery. My mission statement for the office is; Our mission is to restore every person’s health, function, and vitality through personalized chiropractic care, thereby empowering them to Live Well and live life without limits.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Opening a chiropractic practice has been incredibly rewarding, but it definitely comes with challenges. One of the biggest is balancing the clinical side with the business side, you have to transition from being ‘just the doctor’ to also being the marketer, the administrator, and the person responsible for every detail behind the scenes.

Another challenge is earning trust in a new community. You want people to know who you are, what you stand for, and why your care is different. That takes consistent outreach, showing up for people, and educating them on how chiropractic can truly change their health.

There’s also been the logistical side; finding the right location, managing build-out, navigating insurance, hiring, setting up systems, and making sure everything is compliant. It’s a lot.

But honestly, those challenges also make the victories sweeter. Seeing patients walk out moving better, living pain-free, and feeling hopeful makes it all worth it. The community support has been incredible, and that’s what keeps the mission strong every single day

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
