Hidden Gems: Meet Eon Swiegers of Eonyoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eon Swiegers

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I first stepped into a yoga class at the age of 19. The intense challange on the mat was different from other physical outlets. It was laced with an element of calm. At the time I was teaching movement and soccer to kids ranging from 3 – 18 years of age. After my very first yoga class I knew I would become a yoga teacher. I emmerced myself in the practice, finding ways to understand the disciple a bit better. 3 years later I did a training and started teaching right away. I was willing to teach anyone and everyone which eventually led me to teaching athletes and entire sports teams. My yoga not only got me to deal with athletes but also corporates, government employees, and choirs. I went on to open a yoga schoolin the capital city of South Africa (country of birth), and later expanded to Cape Town. As a born traveller, having honestly spent time in many countries on all the different continents, I first set foot on American soil in 2011. I could tell that the US was a good fit for what I have to offer. 2020, when the world decided to panic, I decided to take action and come to the city that says: “i want to experience everything this life has to offer”. Austin became my home. It took me a minute to network and once I had the connections needed I started running my 200 hour yoga trainings. I also had, and still have, a strong focus on helping athletes get 1% extra out of their performance. Having dealt with corporates, I decided to keep the momentum helping from financial companies to tech companies to manage stress. Teaching employees the importance of the breath. In 2023, my yoga trainings shifted to Cedar Park area in order to expand my reach in the surrounding areas. 2025 may bring new adventures. Perhaps partnering with an Austin based company that runs worldwide retreats.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is everchanging. In the word of meditation, we call it annica (impermanence). Understanding this, you allow for adaptability. You allow yourself to not attach to a specific outcome that you had planned. Instead, you do your best to treat a problem as an opportunity. The challenges are endless, from having to find the “right” space to rent, hoping to find and train the right person that will be able to teach classes for you, making the right connections so that people in the area are at least aware of your existence. I also explore with many disciplines like rock climbing and jui jitsu to name two. This can come with a host of challenges. One of which being injury.

As you know, we’re big fans of Eonyoga. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is in serving others. I have an extensive online library for students from around the world to make use of so that they can do yoga with me. (eonyoga.com). I run yoga teacher trainings where we certify yoga students to become teachers. I teach a hand full of athletes in a one on one format for specialized classes. I also deal with yoga classes and stress management within the corporate world here in Austin.
My strength lies in my attention to detail. i make sure students have an understanding of the fundamentals needed to make yoga a life long practice and not just a seasonal activity. A yoga practice off the mat. Better posture, better movement as a whole. Ho[efully better movement of thoughts.
My google reviews can perhaps shine a light on what it is that sets me apart from others.
If you want to again awareness as a whole, discover more about yourself, and do yoga to support this process, then doing yoga with me is for you. You can sign up to do a training for the learning experience and not end up teaching, but a good starting point is to sign up and do my online yoga classes. I am even rolling out an online yoga course soon along with stress management courses. You can find it on www.eonyoga.com or email at hello@eonyoga.com

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I always seek to learn more. From teachers of different disciplines to books ranging from fitness, anatomy, to philosophy. There is however one book that may have true impact in this world if people take the time and read each word with presence: The little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
