The Dream Behind **Sequins Alterations**
In January 1991, a young Mexican immigrant arrived in the United States from the State of Mexico. She came from a humble family, but she brought with her something more valuable than any possession: determination, hope, and a big dream.
From her first days in this new country, she faced enormous challenges: adapting to a different language, working whatever was necessary, and struggling to make a place for herself in an unfamiliar environment. But she never lost sight of what she wanted: to build a better future and, one day, have her own business.
Over time, her sewing skills—learned at a young age—became her greatest tool. She worked hard for more than 30 years, perfecting her technique, learning the trade, and earning the trust of those who knew her talent.
That effort paid off on *December 1, 2022*, when she finally opened *Sequins Alterations*, her own clothing alterations workshop. At first, like every beginning, it was difficult. Few customers, many doubts. But their commitment to quality and attention to detail was what made the difference.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been easy. Arriving in the United States in 1991 from a humble family in the State of Mexico was like starting from scratch in every sense. I didn’t speak the language, I didn’t know anyone, and I had to adapt to a completely different life. There were moments of loneliness, fear, and many doubts.
I worked wherever I could, often in tough jobs with long hours and little pay. But I always carried with me the dream of one day owning something of my own. I clung to what I knew how to do: sewing. It wasn’t quick or easy; I had to battle insecurity, a lack of resources, and the fear of failure.
Opening *Sequins Alterations* was a big step, and at first it was also difficult: few clients, many expenses, and many responsibilities. But little by little, with effort, love for what I do, and the support of those who believed in me, the business began to grow.
Today, seeing clients leave happy, knowing they trust our work, and looking back at everything I’ve accomplished… fills me with pride. The road has been difficult, but beautiful. And I would take it again, step by step.
