Hidden Gems: Meet Gabrielle Wagabaza of GW Lux Chiro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Wagabaza

Hi Gabrielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Portland, ME, a daughter of an immigrant father from Uganda and single Mother. Although I grew up with separated families. I had amazing relationships with both parents and learned so much about the value of hard work and dedication to your craft. Seeing my father grow his business, and seeing my mother manage being a single mom and providing all she could for me to succeed. From an early age, I was pushed to strive for more. I had a strong interest in science from a young age and found opportunities to shadow different professions, but the one that resonated with me was chiropractic care. My chiropractor was the first person to explain that pain was not an inevitable process in life, but pain is a communication channel from the body.
After connecting to this path, I dove into applying to chiropractic school. Once there I had a strong focus on Chiropractic philosophy, corrective exercises, pediatric, and perinatal care. Upon graduating school, I started my practice GW Lux Chiro, which has grown from a concierge practice to both a brick + Mortar location with concierge care available. My intention as a chiropractor has been to help my patient’s connect to their body, mind, and spirit through the experience of chiropractic care. We all have an innate ability to heal and the spine holds all the answers for supporting our body’s highest alignment of health. I’m very passionate about being apart of the Austin Wellness Community. I’m eternally grateful for all the support and love I’ve received from patient’s and friends on this journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My struggles came within finding the confidence to turn my side business into my main source of income. I tackled a lot of hurdles with self confidence, imposter syndrome, and lack mentality. It was in a deeper connection to myself that I gained a greater perspective for putting myself in the fire and allowing the possibility of failure to be point of opportunity and growth.

Moving across the country and developing a new community as I started this journey was also a hurdle. It ended up being a beautiful point of connection and truly finding my community with authenticity as the main focus.

Through Chiropractic school, I experienced the death of my roommate and best friend. This drastically changed my trajectory and opened my mind spiritually. I had to move through the duality of life and embrace the glory in the struggle and sadness that is grief. I carry her memory every day in practice and in life. To honor her life daily is to love fully, make mistakes, and laugh through it all.

We’ve been impressed with GW Lux Chiro , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a chiropractor and I specialize in holistic care based on three pillars: Connection, Movement, and Empowerment. My practice is rooted in healing is an individualized process and we are only able to access and grow in what we believe in. I’m most proud of the growth my practice has taken over the last year. I’m energized by my patient’s feedback and growth within my format of treatment. Everything is effected by our outlook and what we believe is possible for our lives, so I utilize meditations and affirmations throughout the healing process. Speaking to our body’s with kindness and love is powerful tool that is often not utilized in modern medicine. GW Lux Chiro is not just the adjustment, but instead a beautiful connection to mind, body, and spirit to curate an energy of love and appreciation for your body. We take the original philosophy of chiropractic, and enhance it with cupping, graston, corrective exercises, and empowerment. When we honor the vessel that provides us life, movement, and happiness, we can connect to our highest alignment of health.

Additionally, I’m a new board member for Partners In Parenting. This is a cause I’m extremely passionate about. Supporting the community and new families as they transition into a new phase of life. Community is one of the most powerful forms of regulation to our nervous systems. Life is not meant to be done alone.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see more people embracing chiropractic care. What many don’t know is Chiropractors are considered primary providers, the only difference is we prescribe things that naturally support the body, instead of things that actively take away or cause additional issues.
In a magical world in the near future, I would imagine every person has a chiropractor they see before the medications or surgeries are made a priority. We focus on support innate healing, by examining and identifying the root cause, instead of providing a quick fix that enviably leads to more interventions.
