Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanine Rains.
Jeanine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After a 28-year career in the travel industry, I lost my job as a Global Account Manager due to COVID-19 in 2020. While I valued my role, my team and my clients, this unexpected change encouraged me to explore a new path. My husband and I refinanced our house, and a mobile notary’s visit to our home sparked an idea. I held a notary commission since 2002 and saw an opportunity to build a business. I researched mobile notaries and loan signing agents, obtained Signing Agent Certification from the National Notary Association, as well as the Loan Signing System training by Mark Wills, who provided valuable guidance. I registered with signing services, visited title companies, and distributed business cards and small gifts. As positive reviews accumulated, my business grew. To date, I’ve completed over 2,700 closings. I am so thankful and blessed to have transitioned into entrepreneurship, a path I never anticipated.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Launching a business from scratch came with uncertainty and challenges, especially with regard to the investment in equipment and supplies. Having faith, building confidence and staying consistent were essential for growth. Success followed a pattern: the more closings I completed and positive reviews I received, the more opportunities arose. Through perseverance, I rose from the beginning stages to become a preferred mobile notary loan signing agent.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a certified notary public, I serve as a neutral party guiding borrowers through real estate loan signings. My responsibilities include accurately completing, explaining, and notarizing loan documents, verifying identities, and ensuring that the paperwork is delivered to lenders or title companies. While much of my work occurs at Title offices, I also provide the convenience of meeting clients at their homes, workplaces, or other locations.
My attention to detail, commitment to thoroughness and excellent customer service distinguishes me from others in the field. I ensure that borrowers understand their documents and aim to make the signing process seamless.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my fondest childhood memories centers on my father, who worked tirelessly to support our family. Despite being the bread winner for our family, he always made time for his kids, teaching important life skills such as honesty, integrity, work hard and helping others. He emphasized the importance of striving to be my best self. His deep love and selflessness inspired me to help others and pursue excellence in everything I do. Though my father passed away 16 years ago, I feel confident that he is proud of the path I have chosen and all that I have accomplished.
