Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Greener.
Hi Jen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Long story short – I’ve always had a background in fashion. I’ve worked retail since I was a teenager & also attended FIDM for merchandise marketing. I put my passions on the back burner to work a 9-5. It was not for me – I absolutely hated it (full on Sunday scaries every week).
Fast forward, while on vacation in Miami, I read Jen Sincero’s “You are a Badass” that basically said “Life is too short not to be doing what you love”. I had an epiphany that day on the beach & in spring of 2017 Shop Moda B was born. Honestly, I started it as a creative outlet/side hustle while working my 9-5. Shortly after Shop Moda B took off & I was able to leave corporate America for good. & I haven’t looked back since!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been smooth road. Being a one woman show, I’ve had to wear all the hats at some point. From buying to marketing, creative directing, photographer, accountant, stylist, customer service, the list goes on. I didn’t realize all that goes into running a business before I started it. There have been so many challenges & learning curves but my passion & love for my customers keep me going. I can honestly say I love what I do!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Shop Moda B?
Shop Moda B is an online boutique that finds the most unique & killer clothing & accessories. Clothes that truly make you feel CONFIDENT & help you become the best version of yourself!
Outside of offering kickass clothes, we style them in a way that makes you think outside the box. We are always here for our customers as if they’re one of our friends & build that connection in a special way that you typically don’t find in other clothing brands.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I find that participating in local pop up shops has been the best form of networking for me. A face-to-face connection is so vital & I absolutely loveeeee meeting my current customers & new ones, too. Meeting other businesses is an added bonus – I love being able to cheer everyone on!
