Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Wammack
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our business was started by my parents 45 years ago. What started as selling only inshell pecans in their garage we have grown tremendously. All of the Berdoll growth has been by customer demand. As customers requested cracked pecans my parents purchased a pecan cracker, then a pecan sheller, then started making pecan pies and pecan candies. We take great pride in our excellent customer service. We like for customers to feel welcome and educate them about pecan varieties and let them taste honey glazed pecans, pecan brittle, chocolate caramel clusters and dark chocolate pecans just to name a few. We now sell to HEB, Bucees, and other local MOM and POP stores, we ship worldwide and our retail store is open 7 days a week. We got to where we are today by never giving up, always trying to improve, believing in ourself and with lots of hard work from our very dedicated staff.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not always!! Lots of our production is machines and equipment. Sometimes it breaks down, we are always finding ways to make it better.
Road construction in front of our retail store has been a huge struggle this year.
We have 2 vending machines that we sell our products out of. One on the porch of our retail store. One about 1 mile from our house in Austin. Customers read about them, want to buy pecans with an experience and every once in a while the product does not dispense or gets stuck. We do not like to disappoint our customers.
Weather also affects when we have new crop pecans in our store. By mid October customers are ready for pecans. If it is raining machines can not get into the orchards which causes for late crops and irritated customers.

Our business has been family owned for 45 years. We are the 2nd generation. We grade, crack, shell and make pecan candies and pecan pies year round! We have a retail store and ship worldwide.
My husband and I work together! We make a good team!!!
I oversee the retail store, accounting, shipping and website. My husband, Jared, oversees our factory where pecans are graded, sanitized, cracked, pecan candies are made and packaged and we ship to wholesale accounts.
We are most proud of our growth, while keeping quality excellent. We are also very proud of our customer service. Our staff is more like family. Many of them have been with us for 10 or more years!!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Growing up in the middle of the pecan orchard! Running through sprinklers when the orchard was being irrigated.
