Hidden Gems: Meet Jenny Tran of IQ VIET MY AUSTIN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Tran.

Hi Jenny, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started opening my After school tutoring center after having about five years of experience working in this field. When I moved to Austin in 2022, I noticed that many parents — especially those working in the nail industry — really needed someone to pick up their children while they were at work. Most students finish school at 3 PM, while parents may not get off work until 8 PM. With that in mind, I wanted to bring this business model to Austin so I could help parents feel more at ease about their children being picked up after school, while still being able to maintain their jobs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. When I first started, one of the biggest struggles was building trust with parents, especially because I was new to Austin. I had to prove the quality, safety, and consistency of my service. Another challenge was managing everything with limited resources — from finding a suitable location, understanding local regulations, to hiring the right people who shared the same passion for working with kids. There were moments when things felt overwhelming, but each challenge taught me something important. Over time, I developed stronger systems, built relationships with families, and created a stable, supportive environment for both the children and the parents.

As you know, we’re big fans of IQ VIET MY AUSTIN. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business focuses on providing safe, reliable, and high-quality after-school care for children — especially for families whose work schedules don’t match typical school hours. We specialize in picking students up from school, supporting them with homework, offering enrichment activities, and providing a loving, structured environment until their parents finish work. We also follow the Texas curriculum to ensure that the academic support we provide is aligned with what children are learning in school. This helps students stay on track, build confidence, and strengthen their understanding of classroom subjects.

What sets us apart is the purpose behind our service. When I moved to Austin, I saw firsthand how many parents — especially those working in the nail industry and other service jobs — struggled with the gap between school dismissal at 3 PM and their workday ending as late as 7 or 8 PM. This inspired me to build a program that truly understands and supports these families. We don’t just watch children; we help parents feel at ease, knowing their kids are in a safe, caring place where they can learn, play, and grow.

I’m proud that our program has become known for professionalism, trustworthiness, and a warm, family-centered atmosphere. Parents tell me their kids love coming here, and that means everything to me. We value communication, safety, consistency, and education — and we treat every child as if they were our own.

What I want readers to know is that our brand is built on genuine care and community support. Our services are designed to help parents maintain their jobs without stress, while giving children a positive, nurturing environment after school. We’re not just an after-school program — we’re a partner to families, and a place where children feel happy, supported, and academically confident every day.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see the after-school care industry growing rapidly, especially in cities like Austin where many parents work long or irregular hours. Families are looking for programs that are not only safe and reliable, but also truly support children’s development. Because of that, I think the industry will move toward offering more specialized and enrichment-based programs — not just basic childcare.

For us, that means expanding our offerings to include more lớp năng khiếu and skill-building classes, such as art, drawing, dance, martial arts, and other creative or physical activities that help children discover their strengths. Parents today care a lot about well-rounded development, so these types of classes will become even more important.

Another major trend is increased demand for convenience and broader coverage. In the future, I see after-school programs expanding their transportation zones to serve families living farther away. For us, that includes the possibility of picking up students in areas like Georgetown, Leander, Round Rock, and other nearby communities as the population continues to grow.

Technology will also play a bigger role — better communication with parents, digital tracking for pick-up and drop-off, and more structured educational support aligned with school standards like the Texas curriculum.

Overall, I believe the industry is shifting toward programs that combine education, enrichment, flexibility, and community support. Our goal is to grow with these trends so we can continue meeting the needs of families and helping children thrive.
