Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeymmy Cordoba.
Hi Jeymmy , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am from Bogotá, Colombia, and I arrived in the United States eight years ago, leaving behind my daughter and my family in my home country. I graduated as a Public Accountant, and all my professional experience was acquired working in the financial sector.
In 2017, I made the decision to come to this country in search of new opportunities. At first, I settled in Florida, where I stayed for three months, and then decided to move to Austin, Texas, a city that has since become my home.
Since I arrived, I’ve worked in different areas and performed various jobs. I stayed in the same workplaces for five years and, at the same time, began studying the language. At first, I was self-taught, studying on my own, and a year and a half after arriving, I applied to Austin Community College, where I was fortunately accepted. Since then, I haven’t stopped studying English. Although I still have a long way to go, I feel very happy to see my progress every day.
The absence of my family and being alone led me to spend my little free time doing other activities: walking, watching movies, listening to music… And when the pandemic hit, everything changed. Many places closed, including the restaurant where I worked, and suddenly, I had much more free time. That’s when the desire to start something new was reignited in me.
After the pandemic, I returned to an activity I had always loved back in Colombia: balloon decorations. At first, I saw it as a hobby, since I wasn’t sure about starting a project. After so many years working in different areas, I felt I had lost the skill… but as soon as I had the opportunity to decorate again, I knew that this was what I truly wanted to do.
I felt once more that I was doing something that filled my soul and made me happy. However, starting a business isn’t just about having manual skills—it’s also about learning social media, sales, communication, language, and many other factors. One of the biggest challenges for me was social media. I had never used it before, and it was a topic that caused me stress, insecurity, and fear of being on camera. It was a complete challenge. But little by little, I started studying and seeing the positive side of social media: all the things we can achieve if we learn to use it with purpose.
That’s how, in 2022, my business was officially born: Partaay Time Balloons. At the same time, I began training again, because the balloon decoration world had evolved a lot. I updated my skills with new techniques and trends, and I trained with the best in the industry.
Last year, I graduated as a Professional Balloon Designer at Decolovers Institute, the first institute approved by the Florida Department of Education for balloon decoration professionals. This achievement filled my heart with joy and pride: it was the second time I had graduated as a professional—this time in the path of my dreams.
I’ve had the opportunity to decorate events and I’m prepared to create any type of balloon decoration, but my true passion is teaching and sharing everything I’ve learned on this beautiful journey. It fills my heart to be able to share my knowledge with others, to see how they discover their creativity, and how they can turn their talent into an opportunity to grow, start a business, and believe in themselves.
Since I began teaching, I’ve had the blessing of conducting 7 workshops, thanks to God! Each class, each workshop, each conversation is an opportunity to inspire and continue learning together. For me, teaching is not just about sharing techniques—it’s about creating a community where we can all dream big.
The mission of Partaay Time Balloons is for each person who participates in our experiences to leave with motivation, a spark that inspires them to keep creating, learning, and believing in their own talent.
I currently live with my boyfriend, and both he and his family have opened the doors of their home to me. They have welcomed me into their lives with love and generosity. I’m deeply grateful to them for all their support, for making me feel welcome, and for giving me a place in their family.
I deeply long to return to my country and reunite with my family, and I have nothing but gratitude for everything this country has given me.
One of my greatest dreams is to share all this knowledge I’ve gained, take it back to my roots, and lovingly inspire many more people to believe in their talent and in what they are capable of achieving.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The most difficult part has been being away from my family, especially my daughter and my grandson, who are the driving force of my life. Being far from them has been an emotional challenge, as not being able to share important moments or hug them when I need it most has been very hard. Although I’ve found support in other people here, nothing replaces the warmth and presence of the ones you love the most. In addition, the language has also been a constant challenge, which is why I made the decision to start studying it—to improve myself, integrate better, and continue building the future I long for, both for myself and for my loved ones.
We’ve been impressed with Partaay Time Balloons, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Partaay Time Balloons was born from my passion for the art of balloon decorations. What started as a hobby transformed into a purpose-driven venture: to teach others what I have learned on this beautiful journey. Through my workshops, I not only teach decoration techniques, but I also help people discover their creativity, believe in themselves, and see that this art can also become a business opportunity.
I offer group and VIP classes, both in-person and online, adapting to the needs of each student. Currently, I teach classes in Austin, Texas, and the surrounding areas, and my dream is to continue growing, reach more cities, and build a community of people passionate about balloon decorations. For me, Partaay Time Balloons is not just a business, it’s a life project that allows me to inspire and connect with others through art.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5 to 10 years, I believe the balloon decoration industry will continue to grow and become even more established as one of the top choices for setting the atmosphere of all types of events—not only family gatherings, but also corporate events. More and more individuals and businesses are choosing balloon decorations not just as an extra detail, but as the main feature in their event design.
The industry has evolved tremendously. Today, it’s not just about traditional arches or columns, but about impressive sculptures, artistic murals, customized installations, and visually impactful setups that truly elevate the event experience. I’m convinced that this trend will continue to grow stronger, and with creativity, technology, and ongoing training, we’ll see even more innovation, professionalism, and opportunities for those of us who are passionate about this art.
