Today we’d like to introduce you to John Michael Perez.

Hi John Michael , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I waited tables and toured in a heavy metal band for eight years before suddenly quitting. Those years were my MBA. Every night on stage I learned to read a room. Every shift waiting tables taught me to serve before you sell, that’s not a slogan, that’s a truth I lived.
When I found real estate, a mentor named Ben Love changed everything. He saw potential in me before I could see it in myself and that forced a hard question: why would a client believe in me if I didn’t believe in myself? Ben helped me find that answer. I try to pay that forward every single day.
I realized early on that the agents who were winning weren’t the smartest or most experienced — they were the ones who genuinely cared. That became the foundation for everything: the CARE Method, my coaching, the communities I’ve built.
There were seasons I almost quit. Where the numbers weren’t there, the confidence wasn’t there, and I was asking God “is this what I’m supposed to be doing?” Those moments forged something I couldn’t have manufactured on my own.
Today, leading 180+ agents and a Dads Group of 3,600+ members, I don’t see business and impact as separate callings. Lead with purpose, serve with heart, and the strategy takes care of itself.
I’m still building. Every day. That’s the point.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. Not even close. There were seasons where I genuinely questioned everything. The numbers weren’t there, the confidence wasn’t there, and I was asking God if I had even made the right call leaving everything I knew to bet on myself.
I didn’t walk into real estate with a network or a reputation. I had to build trust from zero, and early on, I lost deals I should have won, missed opportunities I didn’t even know I was missing, and had moments where imposter syndrome wasn’t just knocking at the door, it had moved in. The biggest battle was internal. You can learn contracts, you can learn the market , but learning to believe you belong at the table? That takes longer. That’s the real work.

As you know, we’re big fans of John Michael Perez. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a licensed real estate agent and team leader at eXp Realty in the Austin/Leander market, but the business has grown into something much bigger than transactions. Today it spans active real estate production, agent coaching and leadership, and community building.
