Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Sneed.
Hi Kari , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My Name is Kari Sneed and I own KC Outfitter and Sage and Co, in Bastrop, Texas. It was a dream of mine for a long time to open a boutique. Late 2020, I started an online boutique and when that started taking off, I was able to find the perfect spot for a Brick and Mortar. I started KC Outfitter in Early 2021. Covid restrictions were lifting and people were ready to get out and back into the world. It was perfect timing and just what Bastrop needed at the time. Since we opened, we have now moved into a much larger space. We carry Men, women’s and children’s clothing along with accessories and gift items. Two years after opening KC Outfitter, I saw a need for more retail downtown and opened Sage and Co., which is a women’s clothing and gift boutique.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
2021 started off with a bang. Since then, we have continued to grow and listen to our customers to see what the need is. We try to make sure we have what our shoppers want. We have formed many friendships with customers in the last few years. Retail is up and down depending on many factors, including the economy, season, time of year, just to name a few. Even the weather can have an effect on sales. Sunny, beautiful days get people out and waking around downtown, ready to shop.
We’ve been impressed with KC Outfitter, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At KC Outfitter, we offer casual and trendy clothes for Men and Women. We carry home town t-shirts, Texas items for souvenirs along with dresses, denim, shoes and more. We are proud of the selection we have brought to downtown Bastrop. We feel like there is a little something for everyone. We try to make sure you feel welcome every time you walk through the door and are here to help you find that perfect outfit for whatever occasion you are dressing for.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think determination, persistence, and listening to your customers are just a few things that are needed to make a successful business. We hear what our customers have to say. We watch what they buy and what they are looking for and try to lean into their needs. We are a small town business that try to offer as much as we can to as many as we can.
